I remember once......lol......

I was invited to join a tangsudo class by one of my colleagues who was the instructor for the class.

anyway long short of it I beat the shite out of her then proceeded to kick the crap out of all the Kids and other people in the class.......

anyway I was asked not to go back to any of her classes [rofl]

I remember your "Well ive started..." thread.

Not to dis Aikido, but it is not something I would recommend to someone wanting to start a new chapter in their life.
I would definitely try out mma or maybe brazillian jiu jitsu. My experience is that you will find people with the same mindset as you there.
The physical training is much better there than Aikido, and I find the psychological transformation that is brought by testing yourself in live sparring invaluable

I wouldn't say it's a good background for mma at all. Maybe a good background for additional self defense training...

Still, I had a great time in aikido, and was able to use the falling/rolling proficiency to help with judo and bjj

OP, can you post the name of the instructor for the class? Just curious =)

i did capoeira for 6 months, hell the only reason i stopped was the money. however it was so much fun i recommend it to anyone and everyone into martial arts. i lost like 30 pounds in that 6 months also. you should try looking into it sometime.

I studied aikido for about ~2.5 years, but it was only a weekly thing.

Been grappling/bjj now for about 3 years, with intermittent wrestling, tangsudo, judo and aiki-jujutsu (very similar to aikido). We have an eclectic mix of backgrounds =)

No "real" fighting I guess, as mma was literally just legalized here in Pennsylvania.

What are you checking out, a place/person???
