Default The how to get windows 7 beta guide!
Hey guys, as you may know the windows 7 beta's just out with limited keys, and since the servers can't handle the load their pages now redirect to "try again on the next business day"

However, after searching the net I've found a working way to get a key! There's a couple of methods that workED but there's only 1 that works (when it's a little bit adjusted)

So for anyone interested, install / use Firefox, and then:

Don't try the c4c method, since it no longer works. (multiple pages it can end up).
The GreaseMonkey method works, but needs something added:

Use this method:
http://aow.xosfere.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=240

And to "included websites" add the following to the posted list:

h ttp://search.live.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-GB&q=betaexperience%20productkeys%20win7%2064%20en us%20default%20aspx&FORM=BMMENO
h ttp://search.live.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-GB&q=betaexperience%20productkeys%20win7%2032%20en us%20default%20aspx&FORM=BMMENO
(remove spaces between h and ttp)

Since it now sometimes redirects to a live.com search page (due to traffic overload I think)

Then load up all the tabs you want

once you've got a key, this is the link to the 32bit iso:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...FRE_EN_DVD.ISO

and this one to the 64bit iso:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...FRE_EN_DVD.ISO

Also, don't forget to install the MP3 fix (google it)

Happy hunting! (took me 30 mins to get a key)

J.

I didn't have to do any of that just now... I clicked their link to get a key, filled out a form, and the iso is downloading now.

Yeah ... server capacity was increased a couple of hours after I posted this ahem so it's no longer needed.

Now there's only a handful of keys (literally, 5 for 32bit and 5 for 64) that are given to everybody. So it's no longer limited to 2.5 million testers (with a unique key each)

In case anyone's interested the 64bit keys are:

JYDV8-H8VXG-74RPT-6BJPB-X42V4
7XRCQ-RPY28-YY9P8-R6HD8-84GH3
482XP-6J9WR-4JXT3-VBPP6-FQF4M
RFFTV-J6K7W-MHBQJ-XYMMJ-Q8DCH
D9RHV-JG8XC-C77H2-3YF6D-RYRJ9

Anyway the windows 7 beta is supposed to be stable, going to install after burning (which is what I'm doing right now)

This may be a "duplicate" thread of sorts, but the direct links to the .iso are a huge help. For some reason, I just tried the Microsoft download applet, and it just says "error" when trying to download. With the direct links though, I am happily downloading at max speed.

Thanks
