Default Another school shooting in Finland
Some of you might remember that there was a school shooting a Finland some time ago. Well, now there's a second one in a very short time happening right now. There's no report on casualties right now, but the shooter is apparently still in the building. The shooting is taking place in a town called Kauhajoki.

Damn, what the hell is happening in this society.

*Update*

The shooter killed him self. Dammit, wish they could have gotten him alive.

probably better in the long run, alive you will see extra costs, like courts and then prison maintenance for many years.

BBC is also reporting that the police disarmed the man, apparently local media are suggesting he killed himself;

Several people are feared dead, with more injured, after a man opened fire at a college in western Finland.
Police said the gunman, thought to be a 22-year-old student, was then disarmed, but local media say he shot himself. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7630969.stm

I guess being captured alive means you need to play the "video games made me do it" card.

Worst bit: Local police knew about his youtube videos last week, and he was interviewed by police yesterday - but the police saw no reason to take away his gun or his temporary gun license (that he got last month) based on that interview.

A day later... well, you can read the gory details from the news.

The shooter died at the hospital a moment ago. A shame that he doesn't have to answer for his crimes.

I'm not sure.

There has got to be a reason this shooter did this. It seems to me they are usually very depressed individuals. They are never the "evil human being" people describe.

I have had my share of depressing moments when I used to go to school. But never did the thought cross my mind to just start shooting people.

Just locking them up and not talking to them doesn't help either. Don't mistake this by me condoning this act, not at all, it's absolutely terrible this happens.

But there has got to be a way to find out why people are doing this and what things lead up to those depressions and try to help them before this happenes. Bullying, grades, ..?

Sometimes there is no reason but more often than not there is. Some people are pushed over the edge and when that happens 2 things are possible... the person explodes and goes on a frenzy or a person goes into depression, anger, and hate and starts to slowly convince him self that its ok to think/enjoy the thought of doing harm to someone. They start to fantasize about it and after a while they make their dream/idea a reality and they actually enjoy it.

The search for someone to blame is on already, and I'm afraid that the police that took him in for questioning yesterday about his YouTube video will be caught in the fire.

Yes I agree but it seems it's very hard to find since each individual probably have different reasons, I dont think there is a general reason. Altough I believe if one does it then maybe two and then maybe 10 and then too many it's catching on somehow.

Final bodycount is 10, including the shooter who died in hospital to his wounds. One or two are still in hospital possibly needing to get operated, but they shouldn't be in any danger of dying anymore.
