Being a bit of an animal lover, i found these images very interesting.
Visitor to London Zoo, Steve Low, used a thermal imaging camera to get these fascinating images of various animals, and how effectively their fur / feathers insulate them. The red areas are the hottest, followed by orange and yellow, while the blue and green areas are the coolest; ![]() This pelican has left a warm trail of footprints behind him: ![]() The warm veins can clearly be seen through the wings of these butterflies, with the hottest areas shown in white: ![]() Cooler areas are shown in red, yellow, green then blue - as demonstrated by these flamingos, whose beaks are far hotter than the rest of their bodies: ![]() The heat difference between a zebra's stripes is shown, as dark stripes absorb heat while the white areas reflect it: ![]() A spider: ![]() A group of otters: ![]() Another image of flamingos: ![]() http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7229291.stm Another link to infrared images of animals; http://coolcosmos.ipac.caltech.edu/i...leries/ir_zoo/ |
