Is this for real, or a comedy skit?
Funny if it is real. http://www.break.com/index/fire-fighter-gets-high.html |

Well it probably would just pop the fuses Also has anyone every tried that (WITHOUT anyone in the pool) just as an experiment to see what the wattage and amps are at when the adapter sinks into the water. I still remembering doing a small experiment with my dad. He proved to me that water does not conduct electricity (teacher said it does at a very high voltage). We got a glass of water, some salt and four wires, an electric motor and a small transformer. Attached two wires to an electric motor and another two wires to the transformer, added water to the cup and put the wires in there and turned on the transformer. Nothing happened. We than added some salt. Nothing happened. Added some more salt the the electric motor started spinning. And with the more salt we added the faster the electric motor spun. I was also told the only reason we get electrocuted when in water is because of the sweat on our skins that contain salt which acts as a conductor. |

Exactly. At most he'd probably just get a shock, painful but not life threatening. ![]() Pure, distilled water doesn't conduct electricity. Add ANY impurities to it, and you're screwed. Basically, 99% of the water that you'll ever be exposed to will conduct electricity. Watch the episode of the Mythbusters where they tested various appliances in a regular bathtub to see how quickly you'd die. If you have enough volts and amps, electricity will find a way to travel through just about anything! |
