Default Lunar Eclipse Tonight
Yay, despite being the crappyness that is winter in the Maritimes, clear sky tonight.

If I didn't have an exam tomorrow I'd watch it, should be a good one. I also with I had some more zoom on my camera.

First time seeing that myself. Pretty cool, but a lot slower then what I had thought. Kind of boring. Would have been super awesome if one of those halo things were out while it was happening.

Yeah it is a rather slow event more of a look and come back in 5 or 10 minutes if you want to notice the change. Thankful I had seen a Lunar eclipse before as we end up with one of the few cloudy nights around here and could only really glimpse the very end of the eclipse.

Got a couple. High zoom + 80 ISO = lots of noise though

Nice shots despite the noise, what camera do you use? am after a decent camera that can take good night time shots.

Kodak Z612.
I wouldn't recommend it for high quality pictures. I mean, they aren't bad, but I bought the camera because it can do 2+ hours of video + sound on a 2GB flash card (my wife wanted to buy a digital camera and a camcorder... I was not interested in that cost )

Night pictures are probably its biggest downfall. 80 ISO is noisy regardless of zoom level, but it becomes very noticeable when using full digital zoom (those pictures are not blown up, I actually shrunk them a bit because they were too big). 12x optical + 4x digital zoom is hot though.

Not owning a tripod probably doesn't help either [rolleyes]

[rofl] Thats great.

I am actually surprised that we got to see it. It was still kind of cloudy, but not all that bad. Around here, if something happens in the sky like this, or say a meteor shower, it is literally always cloudy!

Nice, did you boost the saturation on those? I don't recall it being so vibrant.

I did played with the colors a little bit on the second shot (I saturated the image to see the stars) . The first shot is untouched.
