Ok, first off, you can still bash it and I'm sure you will, BUT there are better battery tests out, ones that I actually think are still more stressful then real world!
Head over to MacRumors and check it out. With constant web loading, the screen dimmed some AND constant mp3 play back it did FOUR hours and 16 min! That's 85% of rated life! I figure this is very close to what will happen for the majority on time when using the Air. People are not going to photoshop on it while mobile, it has the power so you CAN if you want, but you'll probably save that for when you get to the office. I still fully expect if you turn WiFi off, like you would on an airplane you probably could get 4.5, maybe damn close to 5 hours doing simple office stuff. That's probably what most heavy travels will want to do. Taking notes in class? I hardly think you'll be listening to music, leave wifi on and take notes, again maybe 4.5 or 5 hours, to me that's AWESOME for a notebook that size with a decent size screen. ![]() |

No, I haven't see any post about the SSD. Though, I know its slightly slower in some reads and writes are far faster in others. I also have read that battery life probably isn't going to differ much, maybe five to ten extra min. Being dead silent and reliability are the only real standing benefits. Still might be worth it for some. |

This thread make me bust out laughing because we just had a discussion on this on our local car forum. A bunch of these guys are IT's for lockheed martin and some other big institutions.
Anyway here is a quote from one guy. Now remember this started out about vista but lead to mac. " Mac doesn't get updated often because they don't have the vast hardware and software capabilities. Want nicer graphics on your Mac? Go buy a new one. Want more memory? Go buy a new one. Faster processor? Buy a new one...etc. Whereas with a PC, if you just want to upgrade one component, you can without having to buy a whole new system. But all this different hardware could cause issues with the existing OS. So it's a double-edged sword somewhat. Personally, I'll deal with the OS issues for the chance to upgrade my rig without buying a whole new system." Then the next guy says "I am pretty sure the apple motto is "buy a new one" I like that.. applies to just about everything they make.." [rofl][rofl][rofl] |

![]() Well, I was in PowerSaver (but the screnn was at 100%)...I've even got it up to over 9 hours with the screen turned down lol ![]() But, real world useage gives me 4.5 to 5 hours of battery life. I've almost hit 6 with the screen turned down and just taking notes/surfing the net one time. This is a Dell XPS M1330 with the 9-cell battery. 13.3" DuoCore notebook running Vista no less. I can't imagine what I would get running a lite install of XP ![]() |
