Default A 2 sided DVD...WTF
Ok so my local best buy had some DVD movies on sale so I bought a couple. Anyway, Goodfellas comes in a weird DVD box and the movie is split onto two sides. Side A and Side B and you have to flip the DVD over half way through...WTF is up with that? [thumbdown]

Maybe you should call yourself the Heavyweight kid from now on,..
I mean you gotta either be really fat or really lazy to be bothered by something as trivial as getting up and turning a dvd around after like 45 minutes of sitting on your ass.

Having to stop the movie and turn the DVD over to view the rest of it totally kills the ambiance of watching a movie.

My version of "taxi driver" is like that also - but I really don't mind it. I mean, it's not like 2-sided dvd's are cheap to be releasing movies on - they gotta be rare. Wonder if it is a 2-sided dual layer disk - 16.8 gigs on 1 disk - impressive really - or just 4.2g on two sides.

A lot of Warner published DVDs had this when they were first released. ALthough South Park was double sided, 4:3 on one side and 16:9 on the other. These old DVDs have now been deleted from sale in the UK since they've been re-released as 2 disc super director's cut 5 hours of makeup included edition.

Yeah, I don't like those 2 sided DVDs either. If the movie comes in 2 parts, such as Gang of New York, I just load up both DVDs in the disk changer and when the time comes just push a button on the remote. Two sided DVDs... That's just more chances of you scratching it and ****ing the whole **** up.

They used to do that in the early days as they were cheaper to produce than a dual layer.

I have the exact same Goodfellas DVD. It's very annoying. It's the only disc I have that's like that.

The Matrix HD DVD set comes on two sided discs, one side with the movie and the other with the bonus material.

That's nothing. I have a 3-sided version of Predator on HD DVD. It's crazy trying to figure it out!

It's just disturbing the viewing of the movie. It doesn't necessarily mean someone's lazy, they just want to be able to sit through the entire DVD without having to change something around. Think about if you're watching a film and the disc starts skipping. Doesn't that piss you off that you have to get up and get the DVD out and try and fix it before you can start watching the movie again? Well, it's like that, but on a bit smaller scale.

Irs called DVD10, it was originally meant to be for Duo pack movie releases, but because DVD10 discs can be produced twice as fast as normal DVD5, or four times faster than DVD9, because each side is burned simultaneously, some distributors go for the fast option.
You could actually get your money back because these type of DVD released movies are technically "Not fit for purpose".

Dual sided discs may make a comeback someday, if Dual side Reading DVD players become a reality.
