So a friend of mine got this idea of setting up a site for donations to buy a new car. he wants/needs a new car but doesn't have the money.

in return, when he has enough money he will set his car on fire [thumbup]

LOL, that's an awesome idea. He now needs to spam forums all over to get the word out (like you are doing for him right now). imagine this:

you want to buy something and the one who's selling it knows it's crap, but well.. he needs to get rid of it! so this is what he does, lie! he's gonna tell you he already sold thousands of 'm just to let you know you're not the only one buying it, so you will buy it faster then when he says, nobody ever bought it!

so now it looks like he made money and people will be more like "hmm, maybe this will work, let me help with 1 euro and whatch what will happen"

Yeah and setting your car on fire is great for the environment too I bet.

that's not really a problem, it will be done under supervision of the fire department in a nearby district and ofcourse they'll use his car for "training" purpose.

It ran fine for about a year and it was just running like it should be, and I began having more and more problems with it.
