I dislike the sub-forums too. All seems a bit of a chore, nothing feels easily accessible anymore...

And I also agree with whoever mentioned making an AV Forum. With more and more people gaming in their living rooms with HDTV's/PCs/Consoles/Media Centres/Surround Sound/DVI this/VGA that/Composite that and HDMI this :P
Another vote for Subforums has to go.

This just shows that the whole yougamers crap was a flop, why not just drop it altogether instead of fubaring the regular boards as well ?!

We've made a few modications,

- The 'glow' effect is now gone, to the delight of those running at 1024x768 - no more scroll bar. The glow might come back at a later date if we can figure out how to make it an actual part of the background. The current solution did work so that you would always see the whole board without scrolling even at the 1K resolution, but the scroll bar would still appear
- The sub-boards now appear on the frontpage. We'll try this for a bit and then see if it works or should we simply make them 'real' boards instead.

I was meaning to ask this already yesterday but forgot,

how does everyone find the new board in terms of speed? The server(s) it is hosted on are quite a bit beefier than the old ones, and the network connection it is sitting on should be considerably faster, at least to everyone outside of Finland.

As the new servers are hosted in the US, now Nick/Worm will need to hop on a plane to be able to trip over a powercord, so we should have less of that as well.

I kinda liked the glow... it was puuuurty x)

YG still exists - It's only the boards that have been Amalgamated - which frankly makes sense since it means you don't have to re-register and your post count etc carries over anyway... And it means there's only one set of Gaming boards rather than shifting them off FM to YG etc. Once the little niggles are sorted out, there shouldn't really be a whole lot of difference except for faster servers and slightly changed structure.

this sub forum buisness is BS wtf is this junk????? [cursing][cursing][cursing]
Thank you for your valid input, your excellent suggestion has been noted

Guess they do seem a bit faster, now that you mention it.
Sub-forums linked on the front is a good idea, but I dunno if that's gonna do it.

Any real useful purpose to these changes except cramming the deceased yougamers into the regular forums ?

They definately seem faster to me... so I'm happy anyway (And isn't that really what matters? )

As Demi said, we'll trial them on the front page for a bit, and if that still doesn't go down well they'll be separated out into their own main forums - It's just a trial period seeing what works.

Couldn't you just speed up FM and not invent the hugely succesful YG ?

I love the new boards... and the subforums are awesome. They make the forum less jumbo and it makes more sense. Religion and Politics are very similar and fall under GD anyways. Good move FM, IMO

haven't read this thread, but I wasn't too fussed over the change, only how subforums were obscure, but now I can see them from the main forum page [thumbup]

Guys,

There are more changes coming soon, but please be patient. As always, your opinion is important to us so don't hesitate to post good & constructive feedback! Posts like "this is a pos!!" doesn't really do any good.

I have a hunch that the front-page of these boards will also get an overhaul soonish.

Thanks to Demi & the team for all the hard work (I am on the road so I wasn't there when the guys did all the hard word).

Cheers,

Nick

Weel as for speed it's fast but not much faster than before. I feel that it's still the same over here.
