Default My ideal MP3 player!
I want to get a 2gb Mp3 player that I can use just for music. I don't need battery draining features such as album art, photos or videos. I like the idea of metal, removable batteries and flash memory. Also the sound quality is very important to me, which why I am asking your opinions:

I have three in mind, all have pros and cons:

1. AMP3 2Gb Mini MP3 Player

Pros:

Metal Body
Simple Design
Cheap

Cons:

Unproven quality
Unknown software

2.Mcody M20 2Gb

Pros:

Sound quality
Aesthetics

Cons:

Poor earphone placement
Unknown brand

3. iRiver T60 2 Gb

Pros:

Proven brand
Funky Design

Cons:

Unknown product (Quality issues?)

Which one would you choose?

If you want the smallest 2gb music player, get the S10.

I personally don't see the point of getting an iPod if you hate iTunes. It's like getting a Ferrari, ripping out the V12 and shoving in a Ford V8.

But then I guess we are all different.

So Far so good, only had it a day so i cant say for certain, it charges from the usb and it only took about two hours from dead for a full charge. The headphones are pretty bad though but you can get some decent replacement ones faily cheap.

It really is tiny though which was a nice supprise. ill try and post some pics at some point

There are some linux apps you can use instead of the default software. I don't have an iPod so I haven't read up too much on the alternatives

Why would an MP3 player need any software is beyond me... I just drag and drop stuff on my iriver. Including my Winamp playlists...[thumbup]

Exactly. One of the main features I like about my Iriver Clix and my H300.

I think a better analogy would be "it's like getting a ferarri, but instead of driving a long way to go to the official ferarri petrol station so they can fill it with unleaded, you go to the petrol station round the corner from you and get it filled with unleaded there."

Ah, you see what I did there? The proximity of the petrol station is the analogue for whether it's an mp3 program you already use or one that's foreign to you. I should do this for a living, really. I'm like a shark, I just have to.... keep making analogies.

If you are not use to iTunes, then it might be harder to use at first (especially if you only drag and drop your music). But after you get use to it, it is a lot easier (and quicker) than dragging and dropping. So for your analogy to be right, surely the Ferrari petrol station would need to move closer to your house the more times you use it?

Yes, a kind of mobile petrol station, maybe like that black truck thing michael knight drove kitt into. Hmm.

Except the fact that itunes doesn't have the ability to sort your songs by artist (with plus/minus signs next to them) then album under that means I'll probably never use it, making the lack of that feature the cliff edge to the black petrol station-truck's truck from duel. Oh yes! There it is again. I'm going to start charging for these soon.

Owner of a 1GB Shuffle here, and any time I'm asked to update the songs I get this sick feeling when I know I have to go back to iTunes and try to make senes of things all over again. Sort of like being asked to drive a 6-speed Ferrari with a really heavy clutch all over town, when all I'm used to is playing Midtown Madness with my mouse.

Truthfully, I don't mind iTunes now, after having broken down and read this guide. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/tunes/

I'll probably buy a Nano this summer.

What do you mean by having 'plus/minus signs next them'?
