Default My car was robbed last night!!
I thought that this would never happen to me. I woke up this morning to go to the store, I get out to my truck to find the seat in the forward position. I automaticly know what that means. So I approach my truck knowning that I just lost $400+ in stereo equipment, and the strangest part is the didn't break my windows or anything to get in. I always lock it too because of the amount of money I have in my stereo equipment. What's even more weird is my check book and remote are still sitting on the seat

Of course, I made a police report and supplied the serial numbers, hell, I even brought pictures. The guy at the counter was extremely rude, half yelling at me when he asked me a question. (that's the kind of thing that makes LE look bad imo)
As for my insurance, yeah I will tell them but I am going to have to pay a $500 deductable in order for them to cover the 400+ worth of stereo equipment. Sad huh?

To end, here are some pictures.

What's really weird is I just found out I was accepted for a internship with the Michigan State Police right before I found my truck like that.

That sucks man! Sorry to hear.

Did the acceptance go something like this?

"Tired of being robbed? Join the Michigan State Police!"

My car was broken into once. Turns out it was part of several car break ins that happened over some time.

Only when he broke into my car the robber screwed up seriously. At the time I was working for Best Buy and I got a call from a friend that worked in the car installation area that someone wanted to install the exact same stereo into his car as the one my friend installed into my car. Only my friend knows his own work and could tell right away the stereo was stolen and the the wiring had been his work. I gave him the serial number off my box since I still had it and he confirmed that it was in fact my stereo that had been stolen 2 days prior.

Needless to say, the police got everything they needed to go arrest the guy and I got the information I needed to learn who this guy was. Turned out it was the friend of a a neighbor. The vehicle that the stereo was to be installed into was a black Jeep Wrangler. The same Jeep I had seen many times parked outside this neighbors house.

After the police arrested the guy, I took a copy of the police report to the owners of the house. It was a friend of their sons that was responsible. And he was forbidden to ever come in the neighborhood again. Ever since then, there has been no more break ins in the neighborhood and some of the other victims heard about the incident and thanked me for helping catch the guy.

I got back most of the stuff that was stolen, but I still had to replace the window on my car that was broken and I had a couple of items that were never returned.

Man that sucks! [cursing] I used to have a 1988 Mercedes station wagon that got broken into in front of my house. It was when I was about 17 and my friend and I were playing Gran Turismo and we heard the alarm go off so within about 15 seconds we jumped through the wall (the room was being remodeled at the time) and got to the street to find absolutely no one in sight. The driver window was broken and it looked like they took a crowbar to pry the head unit out.

Then here in Savannah I had my M3 parked near River Street and someone pried the lock cylinder out of door to get in but must've been spooked because they didn't take any of my audio equipment or my wallet in the glove box. The plastic ring around the ignition was missing though so it seemed they were going for gold.

There are no words to describe how incredibly frustrating it is to know some rats have been rooting around in your car. Hope you get it all sorted soon man.

I've been on vacation with my family and we've had a couple of incidents both with our vehicles and the places we were staying at. Our van window got smashed in while staying at a fairly nice hotel, thank god nothing was stolen, at least not that I know. Still, it sucks when it happens. Windows can be rather expensive to replace.

I had my car broken into Dec 8th last year... It cost me more in damage than anything they stole...

They stole...
  • Road map of Adelaide
  • Road Map of Melbourne
  • My cars owners manual
  • Golf Ball
  • Sunglasses cover
  • Sunglasses cleaner
  • Interior light and cover... (wtf)
about $80 AU of crap.

Damaged
  • Smashed left front passenger window
  • Front right headlight
  • Front body panels and scratched paint
$1300 of damage for $80 of rubbish. [rolleyes]

That sucks FoodStampz!

When I was a teen I had my $400 CD player stolen. Had it for about two months and saved for more than that. Kind of my fault though.. We lived in a quiet neighborhood with no sidewalks and had very little pedestrian traffic. Anyways it was a Saturday and a buddy of mine picked me up to go to a BBQ pool party thing. I thought we would probably be back before dark and didn't really give it much thought(young and dumb). We got back about 11:00 pm and then it kicked in... "oh crap! I left my window down I better roll it up". It was gone....[cursing] crying. For the longest time I always dreamed of catching someone stealing a car stereo so I could kick the FN crap out of them! Its kind of subsided now, but I feel your pain.

One of my teachers is a county sheriff so im going to talk to him about it. The local city cops are never to be seen on my side of town which is supposed to be "the nice quiet neighborhood". Funny thing here is I lived in a ghetto ass city, surrounded by ghetto ass people who were probably crooks and no one touched my ****. I don't get it.

Oh on a side note, my aunt owns the apartment building I live in and she's gunna call and see if her insurance will cover it because it was in the driveway. I really hope it does.

The one time i really went all out on my car and bought a nice stereo, think it was one of those first pioneers with the OrganicEL face or whatever they call it. set me back like 300 something, first week I had it i ran into a store to pick up some food, forgot to take the faceplate off as it was only like 10 min run. Came back to a big hole in my dash, ripped wires out, the door lock cylinder ripped out of the door (crowbar anybody??)

That was the last time i ever dumped money on a stereo.

Wasnt that the truck that you recently got too?

You didnt have anything bolted down? I have a buddy with a Civic, that got a nice system put into his ride. I now that his woofer and two amps are bolted down into his car. You could still take them out, but it would take quiet a while to do so.

I feel your pain, man.

My Sophomore year in high school I had my head unit stolen. It was the SECOND day I had ever driven to school in my car. Locked everything up, put the faceplate in the glovebox. The bastards broke through the doorhandle, used a crowbar to remove the head unit (destroying my dash in the process) and did the same to my glovebox to remove the faceplate.
The school obviously was no help, even though I had to pay a $100 fee per semester for "security personnel" that only are there to keep us from staying in the parking lot after school. They also had security cameras all over the parking lot, but would not allow any of it to be viewed.

But I have to say...I did have some nice infinity speakers in that car that were mounted in the stock locations, and they were left alone.

Sorry to hear about your car, though, man.
