Default Can a womans till get pregnant on the pill?
Well here's the story. My woman is on BC (to help with a former cyst on her ovaries) so she's stop having periods. When we have sexy time, she makes me use a condom still, because she still fears about getting pregnant. If I understand correctly, when a woman is on birth control, her preiod is put on halt, therefore she can't/doesn't make any eggs. Is this correct? She cannnot resume her normal period intervals until she is off the pill. How can I make trust that I don't need a stinking rubber ><

Nothing is 100%. She has a right to be concerned. It's her body. If something isn't the way you expected it to be, she'll be the one who has to deal with a pregnancy. Not you. Are you sure you're even mature enough for this?

Not true, a woman can still have a period. As a matter of fact, most women go on the pill to regulate their period. My sister and I are both pill pregnancies. Between the pill and a condom their should'nt be a pregnancy but it still isn't 100% proof, nothing is except abstinance.

Yup, nothing is 100%

So just use a condom, or the back door.

I'm not sure what you're getting at (Vox), but i'll pass it off as a simple misunderstanding. I'm not mad at her, I respect her choices and as such, I choose to honor them as fairly as I can. What I AM asking, is that if BC is 100% foolproof against pregnancy. If it is, then I can talk with her about it. If it NOT 100% preventive, then i'll deal with it as such and keep on wearing the rubbers until she and I are both comfortable to not use one.

Also thanks for the info. it was my understanding that BC prevented her production of an egg, therefore one could never be fertalized. This whole thing is still very confusing to me =\

It's not 100% fool proof. Here's what one site says:

"How Well Does It Work?
Over the course of 1 year, 5 to 8 out of 100 typical couples who rely on the Pill to prevent pregnancy will have an accidental pregnancy. Of course, this is an average figure and the chance of getting pregnant depends on whether you take your birth control pills every day. The Pill is an effective form of birth control, but even missing 1 day increases the chance of getting pregnant."

As long as she remembers to take it as prescribed and doesnt miss any doses then she has no excuse for not letting you ride bareback.[thumbup]

unless she's concerned for her sexual health in other aspects that is.

Don't listen to this guy, as he has no idea what he is talking about... WHAT PART OF THE PILL IS NOT 100% EFFECTIVE HAVE YOU FAILED TO UNDERSTAND?
I think we've all learned to not take all advice on FM very serisously :P

I was mainly just trying to find some answers, as both her and I are a little on the uneducated side of birth controll pills. Like I said I was under the assumption that it completely stopped egg production, or at least deemed the egg unable to be fertalized, which is not true. So yea, now we know!

Hmmm my girl is on BC and she gets her period regularly, I dont ever use a condom and we dont ever worry either. The time one really must be careful is when she is on any antibiotic of any sort as that counters the effect of the BC and actually can get the woman pregnant if you decide to get intimate w/o a condom.

However every woman is different and their bodies do react accordingly to the pill, so in the case of us, it works fantastic and always has.

Ok, here are the facts....While most pills state that they are 96-99% effective, in reality this rate is much lower, around 87%. The reason for the difference is due to the fact that most women forget a pill every once in a while, or take the pill at different times of the day.
You stated that your girlfriend is not having her period. While most pills lessen the length of a woman's menstrual cycle, they usually do not stop her period completely. The fact that your girlfriend is not having a period at all should be somewhat concerning. Some reasons for not having a period include...hormone abnormalities, eating disorders, drug use, and extreme stress.
While some women feel safe using the pill as their only means of protection, others do not. Your girlfriend is probably just being extra cautious to make sure that you two don't end up in a situation you're not ready for. Just make sure you respect her wishes....if you don't, someone else will.[yes]

Here is an idea that can help you have sexy time without protection, but it requires an open mind (or a dirty mind) from your girlfriend.

Have your girlfriend measure the temperature inside her cooter with a good digital thermometer everyday, when she wakes up or something. Chart the temperatures throughout the months and you should start seeing a pattern. When the temperatures is high that means that she's ovulating and she can get pregnant. When the temperatures are low, she's not ovulating and you can have sexy time without protection, and cum all your faithfuls if you want.

It could become a part of a routine so after a couple of months you'll know when you can and when you cannot do it. After a woman gets on the pill it's generally (meaning a must) a good idea for her to be on the pill for 2-3 months before you have unprotected sexy time. Even then there is small chance of her getting pregnant. Have you thought of also pulling out? That decreases the chances of her getting pregnant significantly.

My missus has been on the pill for years now. I hate to think about it, but my mum has been on it for god only knows how long and neither have fallen pregnant. Yes there is a chance that your missus will fall pregnant.

I agree that as long as she takes her pill as perscribed then all should be good. Im not saying it cant happen, but yes there is a possibitlity she will get pregnant.

You can buy ultra thin condoms these days and the feeling is nearly the same as not wearing one. So why not just use a rubber also and be done with it until you guys are ready.

But im all for sexy time without the raincoat [thumbup]

If you have sex only on Wednesdays and smear your penis in butter, you can't get her pregnant

This would lead me to think that either the pill was used incorrectly (skipping a day or two and not worrying about it, etc), the failure rate is extremely low when using the right pill.

Under prefect conditions the fail rate is between like 0.5% and 1.5% and but can increase to like 3% or 4% if taken slightly different times each day and stuff like that. Different medications can also cause the fail rate to be higher or even eliminate its effect so it’s always important for her to mention she’s on the pill if seeing a doctor. When used properly it prevents ovulation so an egg is not released, in the event that an egg IS released it’s not going to be able to implant into the lining of the uterus.

Basically, there is a tiny tiny chance she could get pregnant but if she isn’t on other medication (that was prescribed when the doctor didn’t know she was on birth control) and she’s taking the pill every day at the same time then she’s good to go.

If she does skip one pill make sure you use a condom for the next 7 days or so while she continues to take the pills and then she should be ok again.

I thought it was until the next menstruation and not a fixed number of days? Also, throwing up cna render the pill useless until her next period too...

Acarney is probably not the best source of information on these things...he gets all of his knowledge from Loveline, not "hands-on" experience.[surrender]
