Default The super fat people, how do they do it?
I’m watching something on the TLC or Discovery Channel or something about these four people that are each like 400 US Lbs + and no one has ever explained how they continue on like this!

I’m not talking about how they get the food or why they keep eating or what not but just down to the cost. Sure they’re parents or sister or friend will make the food for them and they don’t have to move around to get it or anything but the money factor is something that would be VERY hard to get around. This one black guy lived in New York in an apartment with his father and sister. Neither of them looked to be rich and at the most probably have decent jobs but nothing insanely great. Now I THINK they said he spent like $140 a day or something just on food, maybe more, that kind of seems low now that I think about it, but anyway, even if it was just say $150 a day, that would be over a thousand dollars a week. We’re talking $4,200 a month JUST feeding one person! $50,000 a year! They would have to be making 50 grand a year just to continue feeding him, that’s before rent and bills and everything else, WHERE DO THEY GET THE MONEY? They must all be making like $100k plus a year or something just to live in an apartment!

Where is the money coming from, where?! WHERE?!

They get paid to star on pointless shows on TLC and Discovery Channel.

Anyway 400lbs is nothing, I was watching this show about a guy who once weighed 1000lbs and another who just broke below 500.

Well one was like 700, the other was like 535 and one was like 480 or something. I don't know, two of them were up near 700 pounds and the other two were much less but still like two normal peoples weight!

Interesting point that I have wondered. I mean none of them can work, so I assume the social pays for them to stay fat. I have no sympathy for any fat people, unless its a genuine physical problem such as thyroid. They are just another strain on the NHS that we don't need.

Yeh...screw grossly over weight people. There's no excuse unless it's a disease.

Unless it's some form of ginetic disorder, then really, there's no reason to be IMO.

I'd admit I was overweight at one point when I was young (not obese or anything) as i'd rarely ever exercise and i'd eat rather alot of junk, but for the last few years i've managed to just stay at a consistent body weight, gradually losing some weight as i've grown taller. Only the last few months i've managed to shed off one stone, so i'm now 12st rather than 13st last year. I'm 6" as well. I tend to exercise quite frequently at my local gym now unlike in the past where i'd rarely have exercised, or not at all. I do spoil myself every now and again, but again, who doesn't? However there's no point to do it frequently which just leaves your body short of necessary nutrients.

Trying to aim for 10st personally, but I guess my point is - i've managed to eat rather alot of junk in the past yet i've never been anywhere near obese. Just how the hell do people weigh 400lb to begin with let alone 1000lb is beyond me.

They do nothing but sit their fat asses down on the couch all day and eat, eat, and eat. There's just no other way besides that. The only walking they do is basically when they need to get to their car so they can get to the store to get more food because nobody else is there to get it for them.

The problem with society today in just overall obesity is that everything is done for us. There's basically no need to do anything physical anymore.

You simply don't get that big (25 stone+) by eating a few more pies, there's all sorts of problems and social situations that manifest beyond the conventional term of a disease. I love the people that say unless it's a genetic disorder than they can go hang themselves, no one weants to get that big in the same way that no one really wants to keep sweapping livers after over consumption of alcohol.

Btw, 10stone at 6' wont be healthy, especially if you go down to the gym.

I'd have to agree, but along with that, i'd imagine it has something to do with everyone's eating habits as well, or any addiction on any particular food.

However once people get used to one kind of lifestyle such as what you wrote above, it's hard to change that.

Since when was 10 stone not healthy?

Unless 1st is measured differently in America, it's what i'd consider a good weight.

I'm sorry but this thread is about super fat people, not about your life story.

Did you just read half of the sentence? Since when is 10stone a bad weight? Well if you are 3 feet tall it is, same if you were 8 feet tall...

I think 10stone at 6foot will make you underweight for your height, especially if you go down to the gym as you will have more muscle which weights more.

I'd agree with him. I'm 6'4" and about 12 stone (or maybe a little less, haven't weighed myself in months) and I'm probably considered underweight or "about right".

I think 6' and 10 stone would be considered underweight.

And yes I'm surprised how people can let themselves get this large (unless they have a medical condition). I'd hate to be overweight and unfit.

It is underweight, I know healthy girls who weigh more than that. I recon 12st at 6' is a nice weight for you lift weigths fairly often, although everyone does have a different body type that may change things.

Back on topic - I have no idea how people let themselves get like that, i think it must be strongly linked with a mental illness though, because no sane person would effectively 'hurt' themselves in that way.

It's simple really they consume more in calories than they burn up.

The food really doesn't cost that much. If you eat a big mac that's only like $2 and it's like $3 for the meal. Also junk food is very cheap too, like Dorito's, french fries, snack cookies, etc. If I only ate junk food, I would probably spend less money on food than I do now.
