UK people, anyone have an NRA folder?

I was having a look through some old boxes and found high school stuff and one of them was a National Record of Achievement folder (NRA). Basically it includes all certificates and awards and samples of work you have done through your years of high school.

I think it was phased out, im not sure, my sister doesn’t seem to have one.

Was curious if anyone else in the UK did?

I got one, but I think I'm the same age as you (25) so we were no doubt part of the generation that was told it was a very important document and you should keep it with you for the rest of you career.... http://discussworldissues.com/forums...es/unsure1.gif

I've got one too, not used it yet and doubt i ever will. I'm about the same age as you as well(24).

When I left school I got something called a "London Record of Achievement". It's a red folder with all my certificates and stuff in it.

From a youth training course I went on in the early '90s I got something called a "National Record of Vocational Achievement" which is basically the same except it's a big plastic box.

There's mine. I don't think I've put anything in it since leaving High School. As such it is full of brilliant achievements such as "High Achiever in Business Studies" and "Sion has appeared in the performance of Grease". Things that prospective employers are just dying to know.

Yeah I've got one. I just put all my certificates in it (like my degree, GSCE, A-level results etc).

I got rid of everything that isn't of much importance though (like random school awards).

I've got one of those http://discussworldissues.com/forums...s/biggrin1.gif Sitting in the bottom of my documents folder here.

Yeah I got one, when I moved from my GCSE to a different 6th form I was told to bring it for my interview and then after that I never heard from it. Though it is at home somewhere safe.

Oh yeah the National Record of Achievement the qualifications for those so dumb they couldn't pass GCSEs.

Oh the memories! At my school we had to return one evening to receive our damn useless NRAs, still in school uniform, from the local mayor. Man that pissed me (and many others) off coming back to school in the evening in uniform no less how dare they! Now you have to know as a school kid I was the kind of person who didn't like being told what to do and loved getting into trouble so I was out to make clear my displeasure at this stupid meaningless event (ok I only got 2 GCSE Cs but it still seemed pointless) by looking extremely grumpy the whole night.

After finally getting around to the Rs my name is called at which point I get up putting my extra pissed off face on as I walked to the front of the hall where the Mayor and Headmaster were awaiting. I reach the front and the smart ass Mayor says to me as he gives me my NRA, "You know you could smile." to which I rapidly replied, "You know you could **** off!" and walked straight back to my seat. It wiped the stupid smile off his face I can tell you.

EDIT:
PS. I have no clue where it is.

I HAD one, thought it was a load of crap and just drew all over it at school and left it there.

Cheers guys, I wonder why some people have them and others dont.http://discussworldissues.com/forums.../confused1.gif

biannaruh 07-03-2007 10:39 PM

Not sure how long they have been around, I had one after leaving school in 1991 or 1992 http://discussworldissues.com/forums.../confused1.gif it was a long time ago anyway.

I still do have it somewhere.

Er...thats now what an NRA is. The NRA is just a folder to show your records of your qualifications. Heaven knows what you're on about http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/wacko1.gif

The NRA was phased out by the government though. Some schools do still use it, but its no longer seen as important as simply.....companies dont give a **** about them [rofl]

Well that's what I received when I was at school a folder full of irrelevant certificates that you had worked towards in various classes that highlighted the fact that you had certain basic skills. I suppose you could put your GCSE certificates in if you want but since we received it while we were still in school I could imagine that being kind of difficult.
