The DeLorean even got a head start there and still lost. Seems like the DeLorean didn't have any plutonium for its flux capacitor.

I need only here the sound the Charger makes to know who I'll root for. Hell, you can't even HEAR the DeLorean. As cool as I think they are, they never got up and went, various problems over the place.

I never expected the DeLorean to even stand a chance. Its simply too heavy and underpowered.

One thing I have always wanted to do is get a Delorean (maybe when I am a bit older, have more money) and get a decent engine installed in it.

Yeah, too bad the original number that they wanted was 200hp out of that 2.8L V6. Would have really ended up helping a lot.

Never new that Renault V6 put that PUNY amount of power out.... I mean v6 should be at least 180bhp without even trying really. Such a waste, as aforementioned with a decent engine and replacing the lousy hydrallic arms on the gull wings then you would have a cool retro car!

Actually, the Delorean should be capable of about 110 to 120mph with 140hp.

GM's 84-90 F-bodies with the 2.8L v6 had 140hp (same corporate motor) can truck upto 125mph or so after a while. 88mph is no problem for them. Though the limiter kicks in at 117mph. I've been there, so i know it'll get there if a little slow.

dmc used a sohc renault motor not the pushrod gm 2.8. follow the dmc link and you will see several assembly diagrams including this one for the cylinder heads
