If you are new to car repair/modding etc I would for sure go for a celica. There is a lot to learn about working on cars and if you could get a newer one you can learn step by step at a slower pace than if you bought an old car that is likely to have bigger problems. Also, celica parts should be easier to get your hands on.

69 camaro hands down
Seconded, and I also would like to put in a request for a ride if you do get one.[thumbup]

Camaro is rear wheel drive but handling is pretty bad.
What exactly do you base this on?,those were very competant on the tracks, sure technology has changed over the years but I'd hazard a geuss that some of those older cars stand up more favorable than people might at first beleive.

If you get the Camaro put it ona diet, then go hunting.

Yes they are, especially on 1/4 miles (small block + turbo...[thumbup]). But for autocross you'll be looking at lots of tuning and lose comfort & driveability as a daily driver.

A BMW E30 M3 was one of the best cars in 80's as far as handling was concerned, it trounces a Camaro. Yet today, even the E30 M3 is bested by a new Ford Mondeo

No,I'm talking about SCCA Trans Am racing, which is what Camaro's were originally made to do,despite what some of you think they *AREN'T* straight line cars.

I'd say teh Camaro would be drastically superior to a Celica in every way,and it's not a chick car like a Celica either.

A. Fun to drive is difficult to decide. Basic Celica is front wheel drive and no turbo. Camaro is rear wheel drive but handling is pretty bad. So neither would be fun to drive fast. Best choice would be Celica GT-Four, AWD with turbo (the actual one you fall in love with in Sega Rally). But from the two you posted I would go with Camaro.
exactly what i was thinking

6th gen Celica looks really good. Though I would want a little more power out of a car like this.
As long as you don't go all ricey on it, and actually put money into important stuff, then it would be a cool car.

If you can find one over there, I would rather get a 240, 260 or a 280 Datsun Z car. Though most of bug fixer uppers if you dont buy one already fixed up, and they are supposed to be extremely expensive to fix up in Europe compared to the States.

In the States getting parts for the Camaro is really easy, but I don't know about over the pond though.

Not only was that comment totaly irrelevant to my question,
but It was also pretty stupid too.

So either you swing yourself over here to germany to apologize while kissing my feet,
or you go back, read the first post, and then answer the questions.

anyway what sort of engine damage do you mention on the muscle car ?

because i would steer clear of any car with engine damage especially if its damage to the block or head.

Well i talked to the owner and he said the "bleuel" is broken,..
I canīt find the english word, but itīs the part that goīs between the cylinder head and the arm thingy that pushes them up and down. (sry my english sucks when talking about technical stuff)
so pretty much the total engine is ****ed.

did a search for bleuel came up with piston connecting rod.

that could mean anything from big end bearings gone (not to bad if you can replace the bearings) but if the rods actually broken it would have done a lot of damage to the engine.

if it's a small block chevy an entire engine replacement is fairly inespensive here. gm is still making them new. if it's the big block or the inline 6 that's more problematic. what is the general condition of the car? i'm going to have to assume it's not the one you posted a picture of.

Aha,..
So your basing your entire judgment on my limited "Rechtschreibung" ?

Having that said yes the Pleuelstange is broken and the whole motor has a "Kolbenfresser", so getting a replacement motor is the smartest thing to do.
btw,.. I also stated that my uncle is a mechanic as well as my "Schwager"
