How can I get around torrent blocking ?

I tried turning on encryption in utorrent but it doesn't seem to be working.

Is it your ISP or campus network that blocks your traffic? P2P traffic is usually detected through packet sniffing and that is hard to circumvent.

Change default port to something else.

If you only changed protocol encryption to enabled, changing protocol encryption to forced and unticking allow incoming legacy connections will mean that you have only encrypted connections, but means that you will be able to connect to less people.

Also as someone suggested try changing port. Are you sure its not a firewall/port problem? Go to options > speed guide > and click on "Test if port is forwarded properly" to check.

The port is forwarded properly it's the ISP here in Malta.

I know how the encryption works and I enabled it but still nothing.
I know people that worked for them on the same ISP. Maybe a different program ?

I currently use utorrent.

If you have forwarded your ports make sure you have UPnP port mapping unchecked in preferences/connection in uTorrent settings.

.

I have an RG60G MSI router.

I forwarded the port to my IP number and turned off upnp mapping in Utorrent.

When I do the port check it is sometimes Ok and other times it gives me an error.

Completely random.

Is your IP address changing after restarting your PC? i.e sometimes the of end of my IP address can be from 100 to 104 depending on what the router decides to give the PC.

You're on DHCP, I'm on Fixed IP.

Make sure "Randomize port each time uTorrent starts" is unchecked.

That is also unchecked. I can't find a way.

Move country.

I think that might be the safest bet. ****ing Malta.

tipokotap 05-01-2007 07:21 PM

Is it your ISP blocking torrents? Is it due to the law of your country, or just their policy?

If its just their policy, then the only real choice you have is to move ISPs. If you are able to bypass things on your current ISP, and they catch you, then you will most liken be disconnected anyway.
