Default My new axe !!!

W00t this baby wails !!!! It's the Fernandes Revolver Pro, 24 frets, 2 humbuckers, neck pickup is equipped with the sustainer thingie. It has 2 switches for turning on the sustainer, 2nd one is for the harmonics mode (feedback rather) and when you turn it on the notes will really keep ringing as long as the battery isn't dead.

Looked at a lot of reviews and everything seemed positive with some minor gripes ( body easily dents and lack of tone knob mainly) but after testing it out several times in the store (they actually had my amp in stock so i could try it and really know what sound to expect) i bought it yesterday, list price was 700$ CAD -30% end of year rebate, and one little dent on the back side so i got away with it for 450$ + a book stand (well you know these things you put your music sheet on and some various accessories).

Anyone has this guitar ? The neck pickup sound is really smooth and I'm putting in my seymour duncan Dimebucker in the bridge next week. All in all it fits well with my amp i think (Crate vtx200s)

Happy new year everyone !![xmasthumbup]

I have to agree, but it doesn't matter as long as you are happy. [thumbup]

What on earth is that? ... what happened to doing harmonics the good old way.

Anyway, I think Killswitch Engage uses this brand Axe sometimes so it should be a decent metal guitar if thats what you play.

Well about the headstock, that must be an old pic coz i hadnt noticed but my headstock is the other way. Also, by harmonics i meant feedback (sorry french here). And about metal music, yes that's mostly what i play and when i put in my seymour duncan it will probably kill even more.

Anyhoo it's quite a step up from my old guitar (Kramer 300HST, which i think is Striker --> made out of plywood bleh) but my Kramer actually has a better clean sound so it's a keeper.

Looks very nice, and you mentioned a lot of stuff that must be really cool because I don't have a clue what it all means.

Here's my new/first guitar. Having lots of fun with it, as I'm just learning. Been working on the Stiraway to Heaven intro since last night, and I dare say it's coming along nicely.

On a totally unrelated note, no, I have not had a haircut in 11 months!

Congrats on your first guitar, i suggest you head to www.ultimate-guitar.com if you need any tablature for guitar, also you could / should download powertab from here http://www.power-tab.net/guitar.php then download tabs in powertab format from that site i mentioned.

Also on youtube and google video don't forget that there are a lot tutorials and lessons of varying quality.

www.Cyberfret.com is also pretty good for guitar theory.

Edit : Also if your willing to spend some money guitar pro 5 is like powertab but way better IMO.

Demo here : http://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php?pg=download

[rofl]

Um a sustainers not for creating harmonics.... it holds a note indefinately, meaning it will sustain well for forever... or until the battery dies...

And KSE does not use Fernandes, least their not endorsed by them. They buy their guitars exclusively through Caparison...

Also, that's a decent guitar for sure. I had debated about buying one for a really really long time. But I've settled to either buy a ESP or a Gibson... just waiting on this tax return...

*EDIT* I notcied you said you were new... The ebst advice I can give to you is this...

1# It takes time, don't force anything. Just practice, have fun and enjoy it. It'll feel overwhelming and it'll seem confusing. For the most part learn to just play songs that involve either strumming chords or by arpeggiating the chord (songs like Don't you cry by Guns and Roses) once you've began to feel comfortable doing that you can begin to learn to play scales and extended scales as well as moving on to more advanced things such as triplets and sweep picking.

2# The first month of playing is always hell. One because its a) boring and b) its painful for some. Making the tips of your finger harder is no easy task and for the most part only comes with time.

3# Not time playing the guitars wasted time. Remember that. Everytime you pick it up you're making yourself even more comfortable with the guitar, and for the most part try to devote a couple hours a day if you're really trying to develop because it certainly doesn't come over night...

Wish you luck man, remember to practice and don't lose hope.

You do know you need a Gibson doubleneck guitar to pull off Stairway properly, right?[xmaswink]

A beard? And long hair? You're unrecognisable! [shocked] [xmaswink]

hmm why do you need a double neck ? I USED to play it a long time ago, and it sounded pretty good with a standard guitar.

Doesn't Page use it to switch quickly to the solo?

Err, didn't you see the [xmaswink] ? Meaning I wasn't really serious. I play it with a LP custom clone through a DIY tube amp (SLO-100 clone). Sounds purr-fect. [yes]

I know what a sustainer does, the OP stated that it had some harmonics type switch which is what I was referring to.

I know KSE dont use these guitars now but I was reading an interview a long time ago and I seem to remember it being stated in there, but I could be wrong.
