If you can afford 6k for a ring, then how about getting one of those skywriters in a plane to write "marry me?" in the sky with smoke.

Or maybe even get a plane, heli, balloon ride and write the words into the sand on a beach somewhere, just make sure the tide is'nt gonna wash away your words.

I'd do something mad like that, although I'm already married and I'm too embarrised to say how I asked my missus to marry me.

I don't know if we can still leave you here on FM, your wedding ring costs more than your PC.

/gets down on one knee and opens the box in front of her and says in the most romantic way possible.

"This ring cost me 6K damn it, do you know the kinda PC I coulda built for that and what stick I'm gonna get on FM for it, now you're gonna marry me whether you like it or not".[thumbup]

Just a thought

Diamonds are probally one of the biggest scams in the world today. 6k spent on a ring is a much better investment than say, a downpayment on a house, or a starting investment for a future childs college fund.

What if you like diamonds? I’m not understanding how it’s a scam, maybe it’s not the best idea and surly doesn’t need to be a “requirement” to get married, but they’re damn nice and flawless ones extremely rare, I see nothing wrong with diamonds.

The only way I could see it being a scam is if he was sold a VVS1/VVS2 or VS1/VS2 and really ended up with SI1/SI2 or cheated on the color of the diamond or something. That’s a great looking ring, but what made you pick the emerald shape over a round or princess shape?

Well the diamond is GIA certified. I got the emerald because thats what she loves. She doesnt like round at all and had her heart set on an emerald cut.

A ring or a watch is an investment as the object never loses value, it rather gains it.

If you have the money and buy a 6K ring it's fine but if you have been saving up for ages and the you spend on a ring more than you should or could have spent on other stuff....

Well frankly, thats stupid.

I always think, if a girl loves u then you shouldnt need to spend anywhere near that on a ring. Infact you shouldnt need to buy her anything of that value, the value of you and her being together should negate any need for expensive posessions.

£6000, to me, seems like your trying to buy her. It's like, "Stay with me, I have more money than those other guys".

Just my opinion of course.

personally i would have bought her a ring from argos

and said if you love me that much you shouldnt care what ring your wearing.

then secretly purchase a really expensive one if she doesnt go apeshit over what i said above then have the real proposal with it.

just me though.

it works two fold you save money if she goes apeshit and then you can also find out her finger size on the sly

shame gold and diamonds ect are purchased on a base rate.

so you wont get much if you try to sell it to a merchant who's only buying on weight and carat/purity basis.

but watches are good for the money especially breitlings, omega's,rado's or cartier's but they have to be of the vintage/collectable ltd ed's varity

just dont buy rolexes they have become the poormans bling.
