Which one are we bombing though?
The USAF will have the capability to bomb both within 12 minutes, and presumably let off a few rockets and bombs on whatever happens to be on the way.

The more important question is: Which targets/cities lie directly between New York and Los Angeles?

A veritable swathe of destruction. Imagine the images for the news networks to screen on the Six o'clock news.

HC. Apparently there are people working on scramjets as a possible means of helping to get payloads into orbit. I heard some blokes at Queensland Uni are trying to do something with scramjets that might finish up as part of a launch vehicle. (I don't know if the plane in the OP has anything to do with scramjets)

Anyway this might be an interesting snippet for you if you are interested in this sort of thing:

the US already has instant bombing capability... it just requests, and the countries are bombing themselves... no funding required
