The print itself is a rare vintage embellishment that was first used by Vans in the ’80s, and Barneys has elevated it a notch by embroidering the whimsical dinosaurs directly onto the upper instead of using a simple printed canvas. The collection consists of six shoes in total: black/white Vans Old Skool Womens and Vans Authentics plus a black Vans Sk8-Hi and a kids-only black Vans Slip-On, all of which are completed with classic Vans touches like white rubber midsoles, jazz stripe side detailing, and retro metal eyelets.

Teased slowly throughout the past month, here’s a first look at NASA Vans footwear capsule with an inspiration taken from the space explorers of the organization.
Using the Vans Old Skool Mens and Sk8-Hi 46 MTE DX as their canvas, the full capsule will usher in a series of palettes that borrow inspiration from astronaut suits while using patched insignias to further establish the overall concept. Both the white and orange pair of the Vans Old Skool Cheap exhibit printed typography along the lateral side while a removable velcro patch of the American flag stands boldly along the heel.

The Vans Old Skool Discount and Sk8-Hi are built with leather and suede panels, the iconic checkerboard pattern on the medial side, and the distinct red Vans stripe to reflect the retailer’s chief color. Further notes of homage are seen on the lace-tips, which feature “Bascom”, and 25th Anniversary insoles.
