I just watched the season and series finale of Veronica Mars. The season, AND the series finale. It wasn’t meant to end like this. V was supposed to come back next year with a whole new level of problems to deal with. Characters from the very start that had since been long forgotten were brought crashing back down on top of everything. The stories just started, not ended. I seriously thought long and hard during this season and wondered if the best private eye had solved every case possible and if a fourth season would be the death of the show creativity wise but after watching the two last hours I see that there was so much new ground to cover and so much more to say. It really was the best show on TV. I would have traded House or Bones for Veronica Mars to get another full season, and you know how much I love House. I just can not believe that out of all the shows tossed on the cutting block EVERY one was picked up again EXCEPT Veronica Mars! Mars constantly was number one or near number one as a fan favorite as the one they wanted to come back but somehow The CW took that to mean that the fans wanted to see every show but that one renewed.
I’m starting to think that America really is to blame and not so much the networks. I don’t think smart shows work well because people are too damn stupid to follow them or dive into them. People want to sit down for an hour once a week and watch randomness that will occupy them no matter what. Following a story that takes 24 episodes and six or seven months to unfold is far too much for everyone to handle, and that’s a shame. Both Veronica Mars and Firefly were shows that were created from within their universe, not the other way around. Both shows had so much effort and time devoted to surrounding everything around the main characters and story that things connected from many different levels and felt like from the pilot episode they had planned an event that took place at the end of season three. These shows didn’t have a small bubble created around a few characters that held a shallow world constantly changing to best benefit their weekly adventure, no, they were bumping into adventures created long before the character began to head in that direction. It’s a depth that very few appreciate and because of that we only have a small moment of that world’s time to watch over and over again. Mars and Firefly are special because I’ll always wonder what was just around the next corner. |

blame america.. lol.. dude its a tv show.
My girlfriend is all into the show. Thats her favorite or was.. I have seen a few and the show is ok but not all that. Heroes is WAY better. But tonights episode was left with a lot of more info to be desired. I dont know the characters well but i do know some of the obvious ones. Also tonights episode had a lot of action which was what made wanting to watch more. The exboyfriend kicking that dudes ass and the second guy was awesome. He didnt disapoint me when that other guy came and sat down to tell veronica about her vid. I knew he was gonna kick his ass even if she said not to. I think they did that in hopes that the fans would ask CW to pick up the show and continue the story and not leave it open like that. Remember just because you like it a lot doesnt mean it should stay. Plenty of people get disapointed when a show gets drop.. your not the only one. |
