Default New US anti discrimination laws
Err isn't that like saying "isn't the US the land of freedom and shouldn't it be legal to say you don't want to hire any blacks"?

I'm a bit curious - isn't US the land of freedom and shouldn't it thereby be legal to say that you don't wan't to have any connection to weapons ?
It's already permissible to say that firearms aren't allowed in the workplace, and these laws (although silly) wouldn't impact that.

Besides, I ride a bicycle in my free time. Does this mean that the company that employs me is somehow connected to bicycles?

Sure, but say that your wife and children had been gunned down and that you never want to see any guns or people connected to them - that would be fair, but this law would prevent such.
How would this possibly be fair? If I'm an employer and my wife and kids were killed in a bicycle accident I can't suddenly fire everybody who owns a bicycle.

The only time I've ever heard of a workplace rule even close to this was when I worked for the government - I wasn't allowed to associate with terrorists in my free time. I'd consider that to be a fair rule, especially since I'd taken an oath to that effect.

What other legal items should employees be fired for owning?

Gribbler, it would probably have given more impact if you had claimed that "as your employer, I have the right to rape your daughters".
Only an idiot (a.k.a. a libertarian) would think that makes sense. And it doesn't really matter which example I pick. Freedom for people looking for work matters.

Cars because they are deadly. If your parents die in a car accident you shouldn't have to be reminded of cars by your employees, darn it. Fire them for not walking or biking to work.

I might be wrong, but isn't it legal to fire people because they are "different" ?
No

Maybe it is in Denmark, but I doubt it

I wouldn't hire someone who came to an interview with a backpack.

Hilarious. This was on the Daily Show the other day. In America, you can fire someone for loving someone of the same sex, but not for bringing a gun to work. Carrying guns is protected by the Constitution, but same sex relationships are illegal in most states. You don't even have to be in a relationship, just self identified as gay or lesbian to lose jobs is many US states. F*cking amazing! Why do you USers put up with this stupid sh*t?

I know the UK is desperate for more business, but this isn't going to work. China, India, and Mexico are still more attractive.
