120m?!? what is that 10-12hr dive?
Bottom time was 20 mins. Total dive time was something around 3-4 hrs. Rebreathers are cool... http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

oh, that does not sound like that much.

I thought that once you go past 60-80 meters that the buildup of nitrogen is too high, no matter what kind of mix you breathe, and that it takes forever to get back up, but I guess tech and technique are a lot better than I thought http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

do some of your colleagues go deeper than 120m, and what about light, was there still some light down there, or did you use lamps?

rouletteroulette 04-13-2011 02:16 PM

250m! ... I am not sure what is the record for scuba, but I guess it is not a lot more than that (300m?)

Andrew1978 04-13-2011 04:02 PM

What's the point, KH? Your certification will have lapsed by the time you get enough time off to go on another vacation to some where with nice diving. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif

Kingerix 04-13-2011 05:07 PM

I'm going to get padi. It seems like the most recognized.

The breathing gas dannubis talked about is called trimix, btw. It is the standard bottom gas for any deep dive.

Why insurance? I already have health, disability and life insurance.

vulikox 04-13-2011 06:40 PM

I can't wait for KH to start scuba diving the east hudson finding countless mafia treasures.

POMAH_K 04-14-2011 01:32 AM

I meant, eastern part of the hudson.

That is always a risk. Pity.

Anyway, she got out relatively unharmed which is a good thing.
you aint kidding, she had me worried - she was doin this in Indonesia too, close to the islands where "rebels" are/were misbehaving so she could have gotten it from one of the many poisonous critters in the water or become a hostage when she got out. I think thats when she started making more trips to the Caribbean http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif

What happens if you return to the surface with air in your lungs too fast? Can that happen without air tanks?

Do they cover scuba diving?

All divers I know have an additional insurance. It helps you getting in the hyperbaric chambers if the need should arise and repatriation is taken care of.

Anyway, since I don't know about your perticular case I can't comment on this.
Understood. I'll look into it, but I'm almost certain I'm fine. I have some of the best health insurance my employer's money can buy.

Note that you live in Europe. Top-tier private health insurance is almost always better than national insurance schemes.

2-3 times a year will not get you acclimatized to Nitrogen narcosis
According to what I've read there is no such thing as acclimatization to nitrogen narcosis. I admit the possibility that this is simply rhetoric.

I'm a very experienced diver. My whole family recently got certified. It's definitely worth it. Diving is probably my favorite activity. Especially wreck diving!

You don't need to be good at swimming to do scuba. Just as long as you can kick your legs.

Malinguenem 04-17-2011 11:40 PM

Cozumel, Mexico. Best place I've ever dived. None of the pictures turn ed out too well, but I have an album on facebook...

My parents and the two sisters in the first picture are currently diving in the Philippines. My parents have gone all over the world, but I can't go on vacation with them because of school and work.

Nikkkola 04-18-2011 01:28 AM

Diving is unnatural. If god wanted man back in the water, he'd have evolved us all into dolphins.

VovTortki 04-18-2011 04:14 AM

That's for tsunami's only!

So you can enjoy your last few moments.
