Default Krav Maga vs Jiu Jitsu
Krav Maga is too violent. You want to restrain the perp, not provoke a race riot.

First one is like Russian Bar Brawling, second one is the "Art of Falling". Does that help?

Did you not read the part where his "job" is to "apply Georgia law to the streets"? Unless that's referring to a process server, I'd imagine he has a service weapon and simply would rather not have to explain several officer-involved shootings a day to internal affairs if he can avoid it with martial arts.

I have experience with both.

Granted, I have no real experience with military version of Krav Maga. If you're talking streets, then military version of Krav Maga.

If you're serious, learn both. Fighting needs BJJ. But it has lots of weaknesses in the streets as well, regardless you still need to know it.

If the situation is serious, learn Krav Maga (military if possible) and get a gun and focus on learning to use it.

WTF!?

Nothing is 'too violent' is someone is trying to kick the **** out of you and you want to avoid that from happening...

Which ever one I choose, I need to be able to incorporate it into my job so it's a matter of reflex and the responses have to be quick and practical. I.E, I don't have the time for karate or kung fu or other forms that involve katas and the like.

You should learn Ambo-jitsu - the Ultimate Evolution of martial arts.

Spoiler:
Note to self: Never mention to anyone you like a few Star Trek episodes.

I.E, I don't have the time for karate or kung fu or other forms that involve katas and the like. These two sentences contradict each other.

In order to train any martial art to the point where it becomes a matter of reflex, you need to put a lot of time and effort into it. You won't find any quick fixes. Pick something and be prepared to spend a few hours a day at it for several years before you get to the point of reflex speed and reaction.

No, what I meant was spending hours learning a karate kata would not be as effective as spending hours learning a close quarters combat form like krav maga or jiujutsu for what I need to use it for. I'm not looking for a quick fix. I'm looking for an effective fix. That being said, I have respect for karate and kungfu as well as other fighting forms.
Ah. I think I misunderstood you. I read your posts as saying "I want a quick fix and don't want to be bothered with all that nasty training".

Karate katas (and other martial arts "forms") are an important part of the training. The movements are repeated time and time again to groove them into the muscle memory so that they can be executed at reflex speed. They are not a substitute for sparring and other training, they supplement and support that training.
