If he's serious (as much as a 10 year old can be) about his music, that should be great.[thumbup]

I'd go with a different amp and an Ibanez RG series guitar. Unless the kid hismelf picked the Artist guitar.

If he doesn't object to the looks, get him this RG -

http://www.music123.com/Ibanez-RG321MHGN-Electric-Guitar-517963-i1317826.Music123

And this amp -

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Valve-Standard-Combo-Amplifier?sku=480259X

He will thank you so much for the tube amp when gets better and begins to appreciate tone more. Plus it has a few effects built in. And Behringers are piles of crap.

That's nothing.

You should see what Pug gets his son for Christmas.

I hear ya on the tube amp as I own an Ampeg VT-40 that I've had for about 30 years

This amp is still all orig and still has the 7027 power tubes and 12ax7 that came with it, the 4x10" speakers were changed out with Celestion Tube 10" Guitar Speakers

this thing weighs a ton and is worth an arm and 3 legs, so there is no way I'm letting him at this..

the way I look at it, he's 10 this amp has 120w tons of effects and modeling and maybe later on if he shows he can take care of the crappy equip then I will let him use my baby..

plus I'm only givin advise as his grandparents are buying this
The Epiphone I linked has a few effects too. Personally I think its the better amp for the long run, and is only $20 or so more expensive. [yes]

Yep, ditto on the amp from me too. That 2x60 watt monster would be overkill for a 10 year old. Not that all Behringer products are crap, though. I had the 30 watt mono version of that particular amp a couple years ago. Sounded very good indeed. Lots of funny pitch shift effects to fool around with. One string powerchords was very cool to do.

As for the guitar, an Ibanez in the GIO series is also a good choice. I had the GRX40 (only available in their guitar pack these days), it was pretty fast to play. Oh, congrats to the kids birthday from me.

my main guitar is a 1982 Ibanez Studio ST100 Black..

whats everyone else play?
Sweet axe.
I only have an acoustic guitar, no electric ones.
I have played for almost 15 years but I had a several year break and only started playing again a few years ago. An electric one is definitely on my list though.

I like those Deans alot. [yes]

I'm currently playing my Ibanez RG 2550e, my ESP EC-1000 and my Jackson RR3. I think I'm going to get rid of the Jackson soon though. It keeps poking me in my nut. Plus I fancy a DKMG.

Pics-

A good general system may be better than a more specialized system as I would expect his musical tastes to change as he grows older and has more influences.
