Bungle, ignore him. Do you know how on some subjects you go off to bungle land and listen to zero logic? Well, he is in tinomen square. And nothing pisses off those commies more than being ignored.

That is what I call a 2 for 1 http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/smile1.gif

And since this is my thread.

By the way, how (probably) accidentally astute of you. "Tin Omen" in fact does refer to Tiananman square.

I am well aware of skinny puppy and that song. Was more an All or NoMeansNo fan, myself.

Are you aware that this makes your post far less clever and original?

Btw, really? a quick listen and it just sounds so...meh. But I'll listen to more, maybe it gets better.

It is punk music. It is about time changes, and simple 3 pieces, churning out fast paced, technically competent music. Not so much the singing.

I was never really into SP, but many skater friends I knew were. I always thought of them as white noise industrial. But they are hard to pigeon hole. As far as industrial, I preferred ministry. Top 3 highschool influences were NMN, Janes Addiction and Ministry. But that was 20 years ago, and though I still have a soft spot in my heart for them (especially JA) i rarely listen to em anymore. More a flaming lips, ween type of guy nowadays.

Yeah I do hold doors open (more in general than just for women, but perhaps slightly more often for women), and no I don't expect to be thanked, but it is nice when it's recognized. And yes, I always thank someone for holding a door, or at least give them a recognizing nod.

As an aside, I've noticed we're all getting on a lot better now R&P is closed. As another aside, is sarcasm still sarcasm when it's obvious, or is that some kind of double irony?

Well we've turned quite a simple topic into something quite interesting. There's a lot of exaggeration going on. Not me, Bungle or anyone has suggested we've ever been left upset or in any way traumatised by not being thanked.

Expecting something is not demanding it. It just means it's a more likely outcome, because from experience, the majority do.

Saying to expect something is rude, is not always true. It depends how unreasonable it is. If I get on the bus and all seats are full, to expect someone to stand up and let me sit down is a bit unreasonable for example, and could be considered a rude thought.

Not arguing as such, this is just how I see things.

Sincerity is the new sarcasm.

It's basically an e-penis thread. Everyone is trying to prove that they are the most chivalrous person on the internets.

Opening doors for woman is just the way I was brought up and I do it without a second thought. I will hold open a door for a man that is behind me or time it so the door is not quite closed when he gets there if a few steps behind. Plus you get a great view of some fine female butts when you hold the door open for them; sometimes you get a good look at the cleavage in the process.

I do.

A, you're doing them a favour, and b, you're not their servant.

Not thanking someone for holding the door open for you is downright rude.
In a rare and outstanding moment that has quite literally shocked me to the very core of my being; I find myself agreeing with Bungle.
