Working 7 days a week.... Time to stop?
 

I have been working 7 days a week since January this year. I started a new job which is great and reasonable pay but I cannot make myself leave my old job. So since Jan this year I have worked 7 days a week and only had a couple of days off.....

Is it time to stop? I like the extra money and enjoy both jobs but not much spare time :s

I'd say it comes down to how well you really do enjoy both jobs (and I guess if you need the extra money)... If you like them enough you don't want/need time for other things, then keep going. If you need a break, and time for other things you enjoy, then quit the weekend job.

Personally I know I could never work 7 days a week. I have too many varied interests and if I don't have time to actively be doing at least a couple of those outside work, my mind's not right.

Hard work pays off imo.

If you enjoy working, and enjoy the extra cash keep doing it. You might find yourself with way too much free time if you do stop. lol

Just in case the Mayans were right, I have been avoiding all overtime and weekend work this year. If everything goes to **** this year, I don't want to have worked everyday of it.

Depending on the type of work, the work load and how many others can share the work, you may be able to negotiate with one or both employers to take the odd day or two off.
Here we have 4 weeks (sometimes more) of annual leave and, as I don't go away much, I prefer to take the odd day or two off for long weekends or short trips - even just to relax for a change. That was for a normal 5 day, 50 hour week which sometimes carried over the weekend when plant, or whatever, was needed urgent work

I was in the Navy for 6 years, worked unreal hours- months out at sea, when in port I would see my apt/house once a week sometimes. When I got out of the Navy, I worked for a Go-gen Nat gas power plant and once again found myself working 60-100 hours a week, crazy hours, no way to possibly get any sort of sleep schedule as I was switching from days to nights, nights to days violently. I finally had enough, I gave up the "big" paycheck, ditched the long-hours jobs and went with a 9-5, "make your own schedule/be your own boss," weekends off, holidays off job. Now I work 40 hours a week, have all weekends and holidays off, have plenty of vacation/sick time etc. I havent missed a single dime of the higher paying jobs I used to have. I cant believe how much of my life I missed!! Im happy now, get plenty of sleep, im so much healthier, able to think clearly...its just amazing. My relationship with my wife has improved 10 fold. And we always worried that money would be an "issue." It hasnt been at all, in fact, we trimmed down the budget, got serious about paying off our debt and in only 2 years we eliminated ALL our student loans/debt and now we are financially free, in a home and better off than weve ever been!! Its not about how much you make, its about how well you manage what you DO make. Get the job that makes you happy and gives you the time off you NEED.

I hope thats some sort of joke more so as the Mayan calander stoped/changed over around 8months ago.

Keep at it, save up enough cash, take a nice week long vacation, then work 5 days a week when you return.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

So long as you're enjoying it, why stop? If you're genuinely missing out on other things you'd enjoy doing that would make you happier, then might be time to cut back those hours. Remember time only get sparser as you get older... might be time now to get some enjoyment under your belt.
