So, out of the loop. mono subwoofer amp.

I'm looking for a decent amp for my subs as my current one couldn't take it and decided to die.

I need around 700-1000 watts@2ohms, 700 would be fine, it must be capable of reliably running 2 and 1 ohm loads and not be overly huge so I can mount it under my drivers seat.

Price range...well, obviously less is better, but I'm not scared to drop money on quality gear.

MTX TH1200.1D if you want to drop cash on a solid amp.

On the budget end is the Hifonics stuff. Brutus BRZ1200.1D. Honestly I can't vouch for their newest stuff as I've had my same amp for the past 5+ years (Elemental Designs Nine.1) but their old stuff was good on a budget.

The reviews are pretty solid, but I'm sure those numbers are a bit overrated. Still, it probably puts out enough power for what you're looking for. I was very happy with my old hifonics brutus amp. It took a serious beating before I fried it.

Well, both of those look nice, the price on the Brutus is very nice too.

Would the MTX be too much amp for my Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1's?

Looking forward though, I do think I want to go to a single Sundown 15.

This has helped, but also given me more to think about. Thanks.

Explains a lot.

Don't you need to go buy an expensive man-purse or something?

Here is what it does explain, the car already has hidden wiring and mounting points under both seats for amplifiers.

Your lisping interwebz commentary says a lot about you though.

I knew as I posted it you would fly into a rage instead of taking it in good humour.

I think it's funny, and says a lot about people, that they read "rage" in to my words.

It won't be quite so hidden once you add a run of 0 or 4 gauge wiring. Might as well just trunk mount it. I considered doing that to my car but eventually gave up on the idea, left the stock amp in place, and just added subs. Although I guess it depends on the car as to how easy it would be to hide the install.

But if that's what you're doing skip the MTX rofl. You'll need a less beastly amp. The brutus might fit.

This is not a stock set up, someone took the time to wire it up underneath the carpeting, very nicely too. I'll go and look what gauge it is, but it's fairly heavy.

However. I could add the MTX amp to the trunk with a 15 inch sundown. That will take a little more time. I could use the Brutus for now, it will probably push the 10's fairly hard anyway, and then redo it later.

Then I could use the locations under the seats for other things, better mid/hi amp(s).
