sorry for posting in general forum but in 15 minutes im starting my windows install on my crucail m4 128 gig ssd my question is ahci really needed? my bios is way slower in ahci mode adds like 30 seconds to boot time.so is it ok to use ide mode? thanks for looking and hope u all are well Tinak

Install it in AHCI mode, your SSD will thank you for it!

thats what i did .but i hate this gigabyte bios like 40 seconds of my bootime is there bios way faster in ide mode. ps windows 7 should be called updates im still installing the updates as we speak

found the problem it just takes a long time to see there is nothing in my bluray burner and i had it to boot from it first switched to hardrive first and its faster

You can reduce the time the bios checks for disks in the drives on gigabyte boards; it is in the bios usually on the same menu as the the boot priority.
