Default Had a motorbike accident on Tuesday - Smashed my foot up
Was involved in a motorbike accident on Tuesday. Was pulling out of a junction on a green light when the car to right of me jumped the lights. I had to cross two lanes and as I was doing this they came hurtling up the right hand side of me. This caused me to loose control as so close and I came off. The full weight of my bike fell on my left leg and crushed it between the gearbox and top end.

After getting knocked off my instant reaction was to lift the bike off my foot. But as I did this I felt my foot numb and lost balance and fell backwards. Anyway was like an hour lying on the road while they made sure there was no bleeding or spinal injury. Eventually I was rushed off to hospital where a scan revealed I had broken my fibia and two metartarsuls, along with dislocating as well! The doctor gave me some morphine and laughing gas while he relocated my foot which hurt like hell lol!

So I need an operation with metal put in to my foot. No weight on it for at least 8 weeks then the physio as well! Lying in hospital currently awaiting the operation, hopefully out before Xmas.

To top it off the woman was third party on her mums car which had no frigging mot! Luckily I have personal accident cover and get fully paid by my work. I also work for bike insurance company so should get looked after. Not looking forward to next few months with loss of mobility

That sucks dude, sorry to hear it. I rode a bike for 3 years, and plan on getting another probably in the spring or sometime next season. Having an accident on one is a scary thought though, good thing your accident wasn't worse than it was. Most people just plain don't look out for them. I had 2 or 3 close calls with neglectful drivers either merging and not seeing me, or taking the right of way when it wasn't theirs. Hope your recovery goes smoothly.

Sorry to read that, it sucks!
That's why I don't ride bikes - even though I love the way they respond. I know quite a few people who have had similar 'accidents' due to motorists - at least you still have your foot and leg.
On the other hand, now you can game until you're sick of it...

Good luck with the recovery.

I hit a patch of gravel back in July and kicked off a concrete barrier to keep up, didn't break anything but I can still feel some pain even now.

And then your insurance company will take it's turn, as they try recovering their losses from her.

My brother nearly lost his life on a Bike, my dad - scars all up and down his legs from a motorcycle accident. Glad you're ok, be careful out there.

Glad you are going to be okay. You know what they say about bikes right? It is not a question of if you will go down. It is a question of when you will go down. I know a couple people that have lost there lift in motor cycle accidents.

I ride a Kawasaki ER5, just a commuter. I can't get anything too flashy as have not got a garage. My operation has been delayed til Saturday or Sunday. I am at my parents for a couple of days then go back Friday.

It is amazing how debilitating the loss of use of one limb makes! I have to hop around on crutches all day, my foot has to be kept raised to ease the swelling and I have a million tablets for pain etc to take. Washing is a right pain in the arse, very much a balancing act. The changing and finding the right trousers that will fit over my cast.

I want to see you bleed as much as the next man, but that file sharing site is a pin in the backside to use! Have you not got a photobucket account or anything?

that's not as bad as I expected, TBH.
Oh, forgot to ask earlier - what sort of footwear did you have on? When I did ride a bike, I had some heavy steelcapped boots - may be an idea to purchase something like that, if you weren't already using some?

Nononono not capped! Under heavy pressure they'll nip your toes off. There's a reason bike boots aren't capped.

Wouldn't the pressure necessary to bend metal completely smash your foot? That sounds weird.
