I am gonna assume this is from the same people who brought us Twinkies and indestructible government cheese. [rofl]

I wouldn't trust what a soldier on duty on a news camera has to say about an MRE if it is good or not.

Right, because they don't have tastebuds? I hear you lose those with your military training.

That's ridiculous. You think they are under some pressure to say positive things, like they'll get a lashing later on if they say it sucks? In the beginning of the video they were talking about other MREs being horrible anyway.

All I could think of when I saw Army and Sandwich...

Actually, after thinking about it, I started thinking of those cable shows about people getting stuck in the desert and whatnot. Seems to me, you could shove a couple of weeks worth of sustenance into an average backpack with food like that.

Now. What to do about water........

+1

Everybody know's MRE's are terrible. It's not like it's a secret.
The military knows that, it's not like classified information... lol

I spent 8 and 1/2 years in the Army. I can tell you that some of the flavors weren't very good. Although some flavors weren't too bad. The one MRE I couldn't stand was the Frankfurter pack.

When I was stationed in Germany, my unit was one of the first to enter Kosovo. We were eating MRE's every day for just over 2 months until the meal facilities could finally get up and running. After that amount of time, a person starts to really dislike those things, even the ones they liked.

But not all items were bad. You had some bartering power if you got a cheese pack. Especially if it was Cheese with jalapenos. I liked the Orange Pound cake in some of the packs myself.
