Tesla set the record straight back in 2008, the problem stems from rebroadcasts of that particular episode. Tesla basically said bygones after stating they had scripts portraying the vehicle in an unfavorable manner in that episode before the vehicle had actually been tested. Then the BBC admitted to the crime though they still somehow claim it is a valid representation of the vehicles performance. Go Tesla.

Economically driven 300 miles, normal 200, agressive on track 55 miles - not so different from a petrol vehicle*.
IIRC, wasn't the problem TG had the motor overheating on the track? Seems more of an issue than simple battery life.

*For example, the Ford GT...
