Default Red Dawn remake changes Chinese to North Koreans
Why not just make it Russians again? Not believable because they've fallen so low? But then what's with North Koreans? I realize I'm talking to myself here. Hello. Anybody hear me?

There's a video game that just came out this week about this same thing... Homefront. North Korean invasion of the US. Yeah none of it makes any damn sense.

Red Dawn was the third greatest film of the 80s. Conan the Barbarian was first, and The Road Warrior was second.
I don't see Commando anywhere on that list.

Wikipedia says (via the International Institute for Strategic Studies) the Korean People's Army has 1,106,000 active personnel and 8M more in reserve, though that 8M includes women since North Korea only has 24M people to begin with. Probably also includes something called the "Worker-Peasant Red Guard"...

The KPA probably has some absurdly shitty weapons and maintenance, crappy logistical system that would probably have to live off the land even if they invaded South Korea, etc.

In Homefront the idea is that the North Koreans take advantage of some global instability with regards to oil (Iran and Saudi Arabia going to war) to waltz into South Korea, conquer Japan, and somehow take over all of China. Yeah, I guess a combined Sino-Japanese-Korean nation would be crazy powerful but that aint happening, especially not under North Korean leadership.

Bird flu... this is like Docfeelgood's worst nightmares come to life! The trailer for Homefront.
Why do you think this fantasy would be a nightmare to me? I have took part in 23 combat patrols on the DMZ.

BTW
Nobody thought that 6 nuclear chambers would be this close to meltdown either.
It is only a mater of time before there will be a world pandemic. Hope I am wrong.

That's because Bennett's chain mail attire kicks in straight into the gay recruitment propaganda category. I might move Road Warrior to #2 and put Predator in the three slot, but overall Felch's list is tough to argue with.

Does anyone besides me actually have this game? I'm getting shitty fps, and out of memory on my laptop granted it is 3 years old...........
Well this thread is technically about Red Dawn 2, not this Homefront game (which actually was developed by the writer of the original Red Dawn, I think)... and no, you actually have that shitty game? I could tell right away it was going to be trash.

i bought it for the pc, and later the ps3, its not that impressive, though i think steam censored a scene right after release day for being too "disturbing"..... This idea is actually borrowed again and again in gaming thos this is the worst one they've done in quality control, there was turning point fall of liberity, when the nazis take over usa, there was red alert 3, where japan invades after an altered world was distracted by USSR and no germany during the world war 2.... and there was another game based on a book by an author i like Dale Brown (not Dan!!)... called Act of War about terrorists snaking in and temporarly taking a major west coast city..... similar idea to the later produced world in conflict soviet assualt; about the teh soviets doing a sneak invasion of the USA in the 1980s...

Again and again trying to use this idea that the USA is not invulnerable to invasions.... but this game is the worst done of it minus the intro which is still sub standard.

I am a gaming collector, i probably have more games on more systems then any of you on poly... its where my disposable income goes.......
Oh you mean besides donations to Japan and purchases of cartoon porn?

You bought this game for two systems? What the ****? I don't see the logic in buying any game for two systems like this, let alone an obviously shitty game? What the ****?

What the hell? You collect video games? Video games are mass-produced, expensive, and pretty soon they'll all be download-only... plus once you got Homefront, why the hell would you also buy it for the PS3?!

I'd even say this particular scenario is unlikely, but going to my worst case scenario hypthosis. After all germany after world war 1 was a broken nation and ended up conquering half the civilized world and very well could have taken everything if they were a bit smarter, under good leadership of a continued brutual North Korean regime, and poor appeasement leadership on everyone else this scenario is plausable but very unlikely at least i hope.
People like Napoleon or the top Nazis come to power after intense and brutal strife weeds out everyone else. North Korean nepotism can't match that, unless the dear leader has been importing the best eggs money can buy and had a thousands women carrying the kids to term after which 20 years later the best kid was picked and acknowledged him as his offspring and succesor.

That was totally so that he'd have to be killed in an unconventional manner:"Let off some steam, Bennett."

That said, a movie where the Chinese take over America may hit a little too close to home for an American audience.

The Chinese would throw a huge hissy fit, if they were ever portrayed as bad guys in any movie. It would seriously hurt diplomatic relations and US ambassadors would have to apologize.
That kind of stuff doesn't ever stop hollywood...
