Yesterday was awful
 

Shot a 46 on the front and only played four holes on the back. It was so hot and sticky, I went through both gloves (soaked in sweat) and I couldn't keep a grip on the clubs.

Hopefully today will be better

Much better, the weather was definitely cooler and less humid. Shot a 40 on the front nine, and that's as far as we got. The course was extremely slow, took almost 3 hours for nine.

Played today. Hot and cold. 6 pars and 2 birdies and I still shot a 92. When I was on I was money and when I was off I was horrible.

I took a lesson earlier this week. I am getting older and my old standby power fade off the tee has less and less power, so I want to start hitting more of a draw. By the end of the lesson, I was hitting a high, controlled draw that was going 10-15 yards farther than I ever hit it in my life.
So, I go out last evening and the draw is there. Even par after four holes, all greens in reg with shorter irons than usual. But I hit an ugly pull hook on five, and I never recover. Played 12 holes and never hit anything close to a draw again. I kept hitting that ugly duck hook and finally gave up on 11 and hit my little fade and parred the last two holes.
I don't know what to do now. Frustrating, to say the least. I just don't have the time to work it out on the range before I play again.

I love the high draw off the driver, but have never been able to pull it off. I can sometimes with the three-wood, off a tee, but never a driver. It's a mystery to me.

I've really been struggling lately. Couldn't break 50 over nine holes. I kept adjusting my grip at the top of my swing and the results were terrible. Duck hooks with every swing.

Looked at a couple of videos on line, and found one that showed my original grip and the results were very pleasing. Shot a 48 on the back, and then a 40 on the front.

Still have to get my driver back in the game, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel

Just wish I knew how my grip got out of whack. I think it had to do with playing in the rain and constantly losing control of the club.

I'm giving it a rest. I played twice over the holiday weekend and it was awful, to the point of embarrassment.
Saturday I made 7 pars and shot 90. Monday I made 5 pars and a birdie and shot 93. I actually putted great, which is indicative of how bad I hit it. I have no swing thought to fall back on right now and I am not enjoying it.

Shot 77 yesterday, best round of the year. It usually doesn't take me this long to get my game into shape. 41-36. Had a double bogey on a par 3 that never should have happened, and missed several putts I should have made. Only one birdie. I was 4 over on the par 3's.

Tempo..that's all I got to say about that.

Hot and humid, but after shooting a snowman on one, I finished with a 41.

Had to quit after 9, both gloves were soaked and I couldn't hang onto the club.

On seven, I teed off with my 8 iron, and lost the club on the follow through. It went up into the trees and almost into the creek. Luckily the ball landed on the green but well short of the flag and I three putted for a bogey....but I found my club so I didn't care.

Im probably done till next year. I just cant get right and I dont have the time to dedicate to it to get better.

I just can't figure it out. I hit shots better than I have in my entire life, and then hit shots like I just took the game up. Birdies, pars, and way too may double bogies. Frustrating. I shot an 89 yesterday that, on reflection, could easily have been an 80. I parred 4 of the 5 most difficult holes, and was making doubles (and 1 triple) on holes that are easy. I hit every par 5 in regulation and three-putted three of them.

A few bad swings and a few missed putts and the score becomes pedestrian. And now I have nothing to play for for a while because I failed to qualify for my flight in the club championship.

Playing better but can't put it all together, and I can't make a birdie putt to save my life. Until I get shit together with the house and can practice again I don't think I'll do any better. Hitting the ball real well though.

Time to climb under the house...

Yesterday I got off to a horrendous start. I never can get started when I go right from the parking lot to the first tee.

I started double-double right out of the gate. Slowly got it together and finished the front with a birdie that was literally hanging over the front lip for a hole-in-one. One more half-turn and it would have been in. Shot 43. Shot 39 on the back, parring the last four holes. Made enough cash to cover the caddie. That always makes for a good day.

Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I can actually play this game.

OK, yesterday the driver finally started producing, I backed away from the ball a little and started hitting it straighter and longer. Only one really bad hook.

But the putter decided to go on vacation.

FUCK!!!!

Better. When my wife and I play, we usually get one mulligan per round. We didn't use it and i shot a 40 on the front, with it, I would have shot a 38...and yes, i know you're not suppose to use mulligans.

Awful isn't a strong enough word to describe my play yesterday, after parring the first hole, everything fell apart, and I mean everything. Pulled all my shots left, the more I tried to compensate, the worse it got. I guess I shouldn't say all my shots went left, I had two wedge shots off the toe that went right at a 90 degree angle.

I finally said fuck it and quit scoring, I doubt I would have broke 60 over 9 holes. A far cry from flirting with a 39 just a couple of weeks ago.

Golf can be a very easy game...we tend to make it harder by trying to tweak things and thinking to much.

and a game that shouldn't be played with a stiff back.

I snapped the head off my driver last monday on a tee shot. Wound up using my 3 iron as my driver the rest of the round.
