Everybody gets them but me. People in wheelchairs, people who've never played before. 5 year old kids, amputees. I'm happy for them.

I just wish I could hit a fucking green.
It doesn't matter where I hit a ball from, it always finds the water. If there is no water, it makes sure it buries itself deep in any wooded area. And don't get me started on those sand traps

Default Legally Blind Golfer, 85, Gets Ace
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080411/D8VVUGQG0.html

An 85-year-old legally blind golfer from southern Arizona made a hole-in-one this week on a par-3 course. Robert Dunham accomplished the feat on the third hole at Tortuga in Green Valley.
Playing with a group of fellow blind veterans enrolled in a Veterans Affairs health care system program, Dunham's volunteer assistant lined him up with the ball, handed him a 9-iron and stepped back.
Dunham swung through the ball, hit it squarely and it landed softly on the green, taking one hop before nestling into the bottom of the cup.
Dunham's group erupted into a cacophony of cheers and high-fives.
The World War II vet's first reaction?
"I thought they were kidding me," Dunham said. "I told them, 'You guys better not be pulling my leg.'"
The retired Honeywell manager began losing his vision about 10 years ago, but has been in the VA program for only three weeks.

women.
A woman got a hole in one either last year or the year before on our 4th hole, playing 100 yards for her, with a driver. Never got off the ground. She was in her 70's I think, maybe older.

I've pretty much decided I'll never make a hole in one.

Par 3's today
duff,
hook into trees, ripped my hand open on the bark pitching onto the green and then the bark flew into my eye. I played with one eye the rest of the day.
hook into pond with one eye.
duff into pond with one eye.
I played with the asst. pro who shot 66 and was pissed because he couldn't make a putt. I think he beat me by 18.

There's a lot of luck involved no doubt, but I think a guy can increase his odds of making one by more practice and playing. The more times you hit the green and hit it close the better your chances of it going in.

I've got several eagles but I only remember one time that I made an eagle by holing out from the fairway. I only remember holing out from over 100 yards once.

I'm thinking about putting on some warm clothes and going to take 4 more chances at my first hole in one.
Since the tees are still up my shots will be
105 yards
190 yards
170 yards
125 yards
with a 15 mph wind gusting to 30.

So much for that golfing nonsense. I just went outside to take a leak and it's damn cold out there.

Luck is definitely involved, but you can certainly increase your chances by being more consistent at hitting it close.

If you develop a repeating swing that you can trust, and know the distances you hit each club, you're going to be close to the hole more often. After that, it's a numbers game, and luck comes into play.

I've never made an ace, but I've lipped out a couple. And once I had the ball roll up within a half inch of going in on a 180 yard par 3.

Though I've played hundreds of rounds of golf in my lifetime, I've never even been witness to an ace. And a lot of the people I've played with have been very good golfers.
