Default Shot of the Year
For me anyway.

Yesterday I had 100 yards and hit a sand wedge a foot from the hole. I don't know how it stayed out, it was past the hole directly in line.Easy birdie.

That's in second place.

I played the same hole today and was hitting 9 iron. Pulled it way left. I had a 3 foot high mound between me and the green, also had to go over a pampus bush that was just off the green, and was sitting on bare ground. Hardpan, and we're playing it down.

I used my 58, tried to hit down on it and hoped to get close enough to make a bogey. I was about 35 feet away. No green to work with at all.

I popped it straight up in the air over the mound and the pampus,. it landed soft on the fringe and crawled into the hole for a bird. I was in shock, but not in shock as much as the people I was playing against. It also won me a skin. This was the 17th hole.

On 18 I was hitting an 8 iron and hit a hardshell bug with my backswing, never had that happen before. I still got it on the green but I don't know how. It sounded like I'd hit a sparrow or something.

Changing the order.

1. Still the lob wedge over the pampus hole out for a birdie.
2. Tonight. Some college kid fell in with us and was hitting it about 290 so I couldn't resist the urge to swing hard. I hit a weak drive to the right in some trees. 180 out. I hit a low punch slice 3 wood around the trees on the green to about 15 feet and made the putt for bird. College kid took a 6. We played the blues and I shot 39 and beat him by a couple of strokes.
3. Still goes to the almost hole out with the sw.

Something else I did tonight which makes me think there is hope. I hooked it into the trees on my drive on 8. Punched out to 110 and hit a 50 degree wedge 7 feet past the hole and made the putt for par. No double bogeys for me tonight and we played 13 holes.

Likewise, but you have to promise to leave the Cubs cap at home.

Oh hell, bring it if you must.

I'll leave it at home just for you. I'd maybe even bring a Cardinals hat!

I have one that I bought just to piss off my Cub loving friends, there are 2 that I play golf with at times. They're too high on the Cubs right now to play good golf.

One is younger than me, hits it about 280 and then when he has 80 left hits it 140.
The other is 67 years old and his golf ball rolls after hitting the ground so far it's unbelievable.

I don't play golf with the Cubs loving friend I have. But he is unbearable right now.

As for hitting, I have yet to find a happy medium between my hard swing and my slow swing. I know which is better for me, but it is tough to hold up.

I've been working on a smoother swing ever since I went to the Women's US Open. Everyone of them just had remarkable looking swings.

I've been practicing without a ball in my backyard quite a bit.

Exactly.
It works better if you video tape yourself, then you can go in and really see what's going on. Then you simply must post the video so all can laugh at you.

I videotaped my swing once. It wasn't pretty.
