Give me the finishes of Mickelson, Woods, Singh and Els in the last 5 majors.
this is tough. are you trying to say that Phil is the best right now? because based on his finishes last year, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th respectively he was the best, but like we all know, he wasn't the best player last year. it was VJ handsdown. This year, based on what has happened, it is a lot closer and i give Tiger the advantage because he has won as much as anyone, and has the only major so far.

these past few holes though are not helping my case. T-Woo is about to be +2 for the tourney.

Nobody "under" ... not really anyway.

Good stuff.
They're starting to play like shit.

Is this still on TV?

Tiger Woods is the best golfer of this generation. There's no hype about it.

Woods is 29 years old. He has 9 majors

Mickelson is 35 years old today, he has 1 fricken major.

Ernie Els is also 35, he has 3 majors.

Vijay Swing is 41, he also has 3 majors.

Retief Goosen is 36, he has 2 major wins.

So, four of the "big five" cumulatively have the same number of majors as Woods, and he's years younger than any of them. If Woods says he has been retooling his swing, I'd believe him if I was a fan, and fear him more if I was one of the other guys listed.
Tiger Woods is a great golfer, no doubt. One of the best of all time is what they pronounce him to be, well they already did that 8 years ago. Best of this generation, most likely, although this generation has a lot of golf left in them.

Thing is a lot of us are tired of having the announcers run Tiger Woods up our ass. 72 or so will make the cut. One will win. Tiger will get the coverage, win or lose. We want to watch the whole tournament, I don't need a profile of Tiger's swedish wife or a tutorial on his swing change.

i thought nbc would be presenting this and the 4th round in HD.... i'm rather disapointed

The Open

Lets go Phil, Lets go Chris. No More Tiger.

Steve Jones is already (-2) through 4. Stop watering the greens now, that is rediculous.

If you are rooting against Tiger then I suppose I must root for him...

It would be nice to see ole Lefty do something this weekend...

When does he tee- off?
I don't have a huge problem with Tiger, I just hope we get a good finish...a monday playoff would be perfect. '99 was great. One player under par, one player at par. That's a great open, hard to match.

I have the same problem with Tiger that I do with Barry Bonds and Jeff Gordon.

"We'll now cut away from the leader's eagle putt to Tiger Woods, 10 shots back, as he hacks out of the rough"
No shit, part of me hopes he doesn't make the cut. Although last year when he was way out of it, they would show his final hole and that was it. And act like he made a big run on Sunday from 15 shots back.

Link? Gordon is a proven winner like Tiger....

Bonds is a weiner NOT to be confused with winner.

Why do I have the sinking feeling that Tiger is going to back into winning this thing somehow?

i'd like to hear about the pistons/spurs series instead of Phil jackson/Kobe and the Lakers. but the media is the media. it's not the fans that are talking about it, it is the media. they are usually way off in terms of what people really want to hear. the go towards the LA's and the NY's of the world. Face it, Tiger is the LA in terms of hype and Singh is the Detroit in terms of hype. You are always gonna hear about the sunshine before you hear about the snow.

SkeniaInhilla 08-23-2006 07:00 AM

-2 is the lead now. +8 is the cut line. wow. very nice leaderboard. Goosen, Toms, Garcia, Singh, T-Woo, Westwood, Scott, Furyk all within 3 shots. looks to be a very entertaining weekend of golf.

"Bottom of the ninth, Pujols up with the sacks jammed. Ok I just got word from our studios that Barry Bonds is coming up to bat in search of home run XXX. We'll now take our viewers out to San Francisco"
17-17 with 2 minutes to go. Philly doesn't really need the win. But the Home Field advantage is still worth something, and they really should have put Dallas away long ago .... Folks ... we gotta take you live for Brett's 227th consecutive play call without stuttering. ... Len? You there? How do Brett's eyes look? Think he can pull this off ? .... HOW ABOUT THAT FOLKS !!!
