I know that a lot of you on here have played golf with fellow THPers, but I had my first experience with that today. I met up with Sean at Pinehills south of Boston today. It's a 36-hole facility that is one of the best public facilities in the state, and we chose to play the Nicklaus course. You can view some photos of the course on a normal day here: http://www.pinehillsgolf.com/index.p...us-course.html
The reason that I said "normal day" above is that we did not encounter a normal day weather-wise. It was overcast all day long, and the winds were a consistent 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph! Here's a picture of one of the flagsticks, and the picture doesn't capture how bad the wind was at times: ![]() Sean had the idea to play match play to start getting me ready for the Morgan Cup, so we had some fun with that. I played the 6600 yard tees and Sean played the 6100 yard tees. Luckily, my short game was working pretty well today and Sean didn't have his normal hot putter in the bag, so I was able to win 4 and 3. We both broke 90 for the entire round, which we both thought was pretty good considering all of the wind today. On a personal level, Sean could not have been easier to interact with, and he offered to host me at his club sometime in the future, which was very nice of him. It just goes to show you that we have some really good people that make up this forum. |
