My wife has surprised me with tickets to the Masters Tournament this weekend. She told me to pack my bags because I am headed to Augusta National. I was totally shocked and blown away at this gift because I had no idea this was brewing. I wont be able to sleep until I get there. I have no idea what to do, but I want to do and see everything. I have heard all the stories and now to experience it firsthand is something I will cherish forever. I know I probably sound like a six year old....but I dont care. I have to thank my lovely wife for making this dream happen. I could not wait to tell my THP family as well.
Gotta get online and see what I need to see at Augusta. Any suggestions from you guys/gals who have been will be appreciated. I have to start thinkning about how I am going to top this for her. Not sure yet, but its gotta be a doosy. SMG |

That is terrific SMG!!! You will have a great time. As much as you walk courses now, just wear comfortable shoes and be ready to just walk and absorb. If you want to figure out what you want to buy at the shops, check out eBay to pre-shop for what's available (but things will start running out Sat into Sunday, so they may not have everything by the weekend).
Wish I was going with you because my favorite thing now is going with people who haven't been before and seeing what I must have looked like the first time I got to go. |

Thanks folks! I am really looking forward to this. I plan to walk every inch of the course. I would walk the course after that, just to take in all of the sights and get used to how hilly the course is. TV does not do that part justice. If you want to have a good seat at a particular viewing spot, you can buy a portable seat at the souvenir shop, then just put it down at a particular spot; no one will come and sit in your seat, no matter how long you are not there! My parents did that a few years ago....put their seats down near the 18th green early in the day, then went all around the course for half of the day and then came back to 18 for the rest of the day. One of the best spots is the hill to the left of the lake on the 16th hole; if you're lucky, you can watch the putts on 15 and 6, all of the play on 16, and tee shots on 17 from one spot. Amen Corner is obviously another great spot, but it gets REALLY crowded early in the day. If there's a particular player that you want to follow, that's fine as well, but just try to get set up ahead of the group instead of following the mob scene for some groups (aka Tiger and Phil's group). 2 other things: don't run at all (Augusta frowns upon that), and eat as many sandwiches as you can! They're all like $1.50 or $2, and I still remember that I had like 6 egg salad sandwiches the last time I was there. One last thing: HAVE FUN! I'm so jealous of you. |
