For Lord of the Rings/Hobbit Fans, shocking news. They are turning The Hobbit into a trilogy! Un-fracking believable. I don't care how good it is, that's BS.

I could see it being two movie, even though it's a little bit of a stretch. But three? I just don't see how.

Hell they fit the cartoon into a little over an hour

I have no problem with the Hobbit being a trilogy...as long as it's for the purpose of leaving in details. If it's just so they can add or change a bunch of crap then I will have rage. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

If it is a trilogy lets not wait a year between segments.

It's not just the story of the Hobbit that's being told. They're adding things that were happening at the same time but only alluded to in the book or told in the LotR appendices.

According to the official press release from Warner Bros. Pictures, “The first film in the trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released December 14, 2012, with the second film releasing on December 13, 2013, and the third film slated for summer 2014. All three films will be released in 3D and 2D in select theatres and IMAX."

Is it really a surprise that they are handling it exactly as they did with the LOTR? It is the same people making the films.

LOTR made sense.... 3 volumes, 3 movies. The Hobbit is an extremely small book for 3 entire movies.

Well, like retro said, there's also going to be a lot of stuff from the appendices in there. Man, I hope they don't destroy the whole thing. They nearly destroyed LOTR already.

Aside from a disturbing lack of alot of the content from the actual novels, what exactly did the movies destroy? they were generic in the streamlining of the story, but they didnt seem too off kilter to me....

I hope The Hobbit will follow the book more closely. I felt like the final chapter of LOTR was way too disjointed and did not follow the book.

I think a trilogy is a little excessive. I worry about them adding things in as well. That being said, I did enjoy LOTR, so I'm sure I'll enjoy The Hobbit as well.

I really liked the LOTR trilogy, so I don't mind. I haven't read any Tolkien, so I just try to appreciate the films as they are.

And compared to LOTR, The Hobbit is a single short book. I'm not saying it's impossible for me to enjoy whatever they create, but from what I know about The Hobbit, it's currently annoying me. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ilies/wink.gif
