I don't know how much I can say without spoiling the book. If I remember correctly, the movie basically ends at the end of the first part of the book, though I think it incorporates bits of the second part as well. It's been ages since I've seen it, though. In a way, the two parts of the book are almost two separate entities. In the first part, Fantastica is destroyed but Bastian saves it (doesn't make sense but it will if you read it). The second part of the book is Bastian's journey to get back home. Go read it. You won't be disappointed. (The author is Michael Ende.)

Serena they have made 2 other movies since. The second starred Jonathan Brandis.... Never seen the third I think it was made in the late 90s.

Yeah, I know about the second one. Considering my opinion of the first one, I never bothered watching it. Chances are the third one can go take a leap off a cliff too.
