Being rather new on this forum, I do a lot of lurking to familiarise myself.
I noticed all kinds of advice and ideas on the low carb food plan which I think is marvelous. HOWEVER............... I didn't see any advice on how important drinking water is. Somewhere I read that Dr. Atkins advised water intake to be something like half your weight in ounces. Please correct me if I am wrong, but drinking lots and lots of water is important on this low carb plan................ I call it a food plan because diets generally don't work and this low carb way of eating is for life, and it is a change of the way we used to eat, not just a "fast fix" for a few pounds. It not only drops the weight but it also makes you healthier in many ways. Besides drinking water is generally good for you and especially in summer. Water is water and diet pop, coffee, tea, or any other drink doesn't count as water. Personally, I drink about 80 to 100 ozs of water each and every day. My body has gotten used to it and if I don't drink, I feel off. My doctor totally endorses low carbing as well as my water intake............. |

Morning Benji
You are very right about the water and in older posts you will find alot of emphasis on this by Tril, our fearless leader. There were likely alot from Bluehex who unfortunately no longer with this forum. Some people do include tea as a water intake but I don't agree. I have always been a huge water drinker, it's so good for your skin too. I don't calculate it or much of anything else really but I know my water has to be well over 10 big glasses a day. Some will also argue cold is not best but just try to get the ice out of mine! Like the fish line LOL |

Drinking water while losing weight (on ANY diet) isn't just important... it's crucial to your success. You simply can't (I know that's a strong statement) lose weight without proper hydration. And plain water is obviously the best choice for that. My minimum is 32 oz before lunch then 32 more before dinner... that's on a "dry" day.
