Odille how lucky are you to have an avacado tree!! I love, love love them and even though I know they are good for you, I had no idea they could actually HELP you lose weight. Think I'll be buyin' myself some here real quick. Mmmmmm shrimp and avacado salad! Mmmmm!

Oh my, avocados have become a mainstay here in my house. I LOVE them and so does hubby.

I am sure I bought a lc ketchup at Great Canadian Superstore a few years back...I will check next time I am in there...Thriftys might have it and if they don't they are good at bringing in things requested...

I too envy your avocado tree right in your own backyard! WHOA!

We all love avocados in this house and they are super good for fighting cancer as well.

When our schnauzer had his cancer we learned so much about our own nutrition and he had to be on a low or very little carb diet with lots of steamed dark green veggies such as broccoli, spinach, kale seaweed and we ate the same and noticed a difference in how we felt. Cancer feed on carbs and sugars.

I have a wonderful broccoli soup which I make each week which is out of the Cancer cookbook which David bought for us during Benny's brave battle with the terrible disease.

Have a great day everyone and good luck to those of you getting on the scales.

Thank you Jo for that lovely comment.

Keep in mind eating plenty of goo fats. I have sped up my weight loss by adding 1/4 to 1/2 an avocado to breakfast each day when I have some - we have a tree but they are ripening painfully s l o w l y as we have had rainy grey days, although still hot.

Odille, I just checked your Photo Portfolio and the pictures are absolutely amazing! How wonderful to be doing something every day which you so enjoy and at which you excel.

I especially liked the Christmas picture (card) with your cats. Spectacular. thanks for sharing.

I also re-read the Gary Taubes article. Thanks for including this in your Blog. You have a wonderful website.

Your life has been anything but dull!

Have a great day!

You are most welcome Odille! I am in awe of such talent!

Always wanted to visit Australia but I'm afraid that is a wish I will not get!

I love avocados and our family ( husband, eldest son and MOI) often has a "grazing" night on Friday evening and this is part of the menu along with smoked salmon and specialty cheeses.

Good idea for breakfast too!

Have a super evening and a great week!

Attachment 130You are enjoying summer and it is snowing here in Southern Ontario. We haven't had much this winter and it is nice looking out at it with the fireplace on inside!

trying to put together a list

So, my husband and I second week of induction and we're doing great. Since I live in a small town I'm trying to gather my resources for the best low carb foods out there. We're in this for the long haul and have committed to a new way of eating. Does anyone want to share some of their favorite low carb products? ...or ones to stay away from? I trust eveyone's opinions. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

ketNavatutt 09-21-2012 10:26 PM

Yes Laura, having a chef for a husband would really be something! Love your ticker by the way http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif
Odille, thank you so much for sharing with us. You work is spectuacular and you my friend are very beautiful!

InsManKV 09-21-2012 10:34 PM

yeah, I know about the dangers of supposed low carb foods. lol My husband's a Chef so he's been making all the sauces and condiments from scratch, so I'm already spoiled in that way. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif Lots to learn, but I'm in no hurry.

Espacamlisa 09-21-2012 10:45 PM

I'm afraid I won't be much help here Laura. The only thing "low Carb" that I have bought are those little atkins bars and I steer way clear of them unless I'm desperate for sweet. I sort of prefer not to purchase much processed food and I often wonder what they do to that stuff to get the carbs out. It's quite hard to find up here in Canada as wel,l although I do live close enough to the border that I could go to Washington if I had to. I'm looking forward to hearing what others comments are and I would love to find a low carb ketchup because you can use that stuff on anything LOL

SiM7W2zi 09-22-2012 03:32 AM

Laura, I avoid anything processed - fresh is best if you are on low carb & really serious about it. Nothing with more than 5 ingredients listed on the packaging gets into my trolley/bag/pantry.
