Patty C. Thank you so much for recommending Maryanne's post. I am also a spoon and was shocked at how right on all of that information was about my body type. Although I had already been aware, my daily tae-bo is probably bulking my muscles, rather than making me more toned.
Now what! The problem that I have is that I don't have a way to walk in the winter, which has been a great exercise for me in the past. I do the tae-bo because I feel like it keeps me fit and I am afraid to stray from it. I have a pilates tape, maybe I should start doign that? That analyzer amazed me! |
sore muscles?
Hi everyone! I'm very new to this program and have just begun induction this week.
For the past two years, I've been following a failry strict exercise regimen, which I think has been the main factor in my weight loss. Recently, I've been gaining regardless of vegetarian diet, with limited calorie intake, and an hour of daily tae bo. I am baffled by this and thought that it must have been due to excessive carb intake. I workout every day and rarely get sore muscles, but since I've been on the diet I am SO sore. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm afraid to limit my exercise because it really jumpstarts my day and makes me feel so good normally. One other question! I really love tae bo. I'm like an addict, but it has led to larger leg muscles that I'm just not happy with. I weighed about the same last year and fit into pants a whole size smaller. Does anyone have any recommendations on a workout that is more cardio and less strength training? Thank you all so much! Reading your posts has been very helpful to me. Are you taking a calcium suppliment ? I did this diet about a year and a half ago while my workout regimen involved running about 30-35 miles per week. I had great success (I lost about 35 pounds in a month), but I noticed my legs, my calves in particular, were experiencing soreness and cramps. Although I was taking a mutivitamin, I took a calcium suppliment in addition thanks to a friend's advice who was also on the diet. It seemed to solve the soreness and cramps within 48 hours. I can understand you not wanting to give up or change your workout routine. I did not stick with the Atkins lifestyle a year and a half ago because I decided I loved the carbs too much. I gained back all of the weight I had lost and a few more pounds for good measure. I recently herniated 3 discs in my back and I believe it was because I was carrying too much weight for my lifestyle. It is so much harder to lose weight when you can't workout like you are used to but I believe this diet will work and more importantly I've had to come to terms with the fact that I have to make it a permanent lifestyle change to lower my carb intake for good. I refused the Doctor's wishes to have surgery. I said that I want to try and treat myself conservatively through therapy and take the weight off. He disagreed but respected my decision. Swimming leans one instead of building a lot of muscle. It tightens and tones. It is also easier on the joints. And nothing is better cardio than swimming.

A lot of us have experienced energy loss during endurance exercises at the start of this woe. It gets better once you are past induction levels. Stick with it. http://www.lowcarbsite.com/images/sm...icon_smile.gif

If you stop working your legs so hard, the muscles should shrink. Muscle does not turn to fat, it atrophes (shrinks). |
I got sore legs for the first couple of days, and everynow and again when I don't get enough carbs (way less than 20g), my abdomen gets sore. The main problem I believe is not drinking enough water. Drink more water. Weight is not so much of a concern as long as you are getting thinner. Are your pants fitting better? Or are they getting tighter?
