Hey PurpleDove thanks for the informative video. I really like it. There are different techniques of swimming in this video which are important for everyone. I will try to use these skills during my exercise.

tread water with only legs then only arms. for longer and longer periods. tho those videos are better, treading requires little form.

Swimming exercises

Does anyone know what some good things I can do in a pool to exercise/workout instead of doing my usual boring bike? I hate swimming laps because I suck at them, especially freestyle or butterfly or anything. I'm only good at dog paddle haha.

Yeah, so anything would be helpful lol.

Swimming is the best way which keep us concentration to do the workout in the form of the entertainment. If we just take the swimming as entertainment then we will never bored at any time.

I've always done these swimming exercises. My favourites are : Egg beater, Toe Touch and Surf's up.

They're awesome for full body workout. It makes u lose calories quick and you don't easily get tired comparing it to regular, non-swimming exercises. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

the best exercise you can do in a pool is swim. everything else is a bit silly.

you should work in sets and drills. First off, warm up. This might be some stretching followed by swimming 10 lengths (or 250m) freestyle. Afterwards, stretch again, more deeply than before. Now you're ready for some drills.

Some good drill examples:

keep them to 4 - 8 lengths or until fail, whichever happens first. Consider doing 4 different drills. Also, get creative with them: consider getting some floats and targeting either your legs and arms only. Feel that burn!

then once you've finished those, cool down with some gentle lengths.

When swimming, bear in mind that it takes somewhere around 8 to 10 times the effort as walking to make the same distance. Swimming for just 10 lengths of 250m, at a decent pace, is as good for you as running a mile or two.

I went to the swimming pool once and sat in the Jacuzzi for 2 hours, shouting "No buys!" at people who failed at swimming. Good times.

If you're a strong enough swimmer, treading water is a really good exercise. Stay close to the side or have some type of board with you though, so you don't sink http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
