Default How does HHCG work? Minus the HCG????
Supposedly the FDA took HCG off the homeopathic market and so the drops do not have hcg in them. Since HCG is a controlled substance, which is not found in the OTC hhcg drops, which is the main stay of the diet, how effective can the drops be??? My doctors office said it's a waste of money, since there is no hcg in them. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

There are still some homeopathic drops out there that have hcg in them but they are getting harder to find. The ones with no hcg in them at all don't work. I have only used RX hcg myself.

Hey wannabethin57

I actually am doing the HCG Injections through my nutritionist and they told me the injections were more effective than the drops were. I had a friend that did the drops and she lost 25 pounds so I guess it just depends on where you get your drops from. I wouldn't trust many online sources, since you never know what people put in them. Personally, that's why I'm doing it through a doctor so I know it's the right stuff.
Good luck! I'm on Day 4 right now but I'm loving the diet so far

My drops are from officialhcg and on the bottle it proclaims to have HCG in it. I've been using these for one week and I'm wondering if I'm having a placebo effect? They do help with hunger, but why should i bother if there really is no real hcg?

Like krazyk said, you don't know what people put in them.
BTW, can you tell me how much the injections are? You can pm me if you want to. Just wanting to compare prices. I've heard the shots are pricey.

I've seen homeopathic hcg work on thousands of patients here on the forum and it DOES work if it's actually got hcg listed. How it works, we don't really know. But I've seen plenty of people lose the weight permanently on it and have reshaping like I get on shots. I don't dismiss it because I use and love other homeopathic remedies. I believe in homeopathy. Even the Queen of England uses homeopathics.

Hello wannabethin57-

HCG drops that do not contain HCG are nothing more than plecebos. You WILL still lose weight on the homeopathic drops just because you are still on a strict calorie restricted diet. What makes HCG so successful is that it very effectively tells your body to burn and use excess fat store, leaving your muscle untouched. If you were to just go on a 500 calorie diet without HCG you are going to lose a lot of water, muscle and fat. You will not properly adjust your metabolism and will gain most of the weight back off as soon as you eat regularly again. I have many articles and studies related to HCG vs "fake" HCG and would be willing to share them with anyone who is interested. If you are considering starting the HCG diet I highly recommend getting real HCG and lose the weight the right and safe way. Best of luck to you in your weight loss journey.

Regards,
Ryan
By real hcg, do you mean the rx injections? Can you please hre the articles regarding fake vs. real hcg? TY
I lost 20 pounds my first round on homeopathic drops, but i'm sure it wasn't the real deal. However, i did maintain well inP3 and P4.

Just looked at the site - it says hcg 3x 6x 12x 30x 60x - so that IS homeopathic hcg, no worries. I know a lot of Germans are doing awesome on homeopathic, so even if there are some naysayers, it seems to be working.

The problem starts when the same homeopathic companies stop putting hhcg in their mixtures... and people refill and don't know. There are the weirdest wordings out there; my "favorite" some days ago was "hcg emulation complex". I am guessing they cannot sell homeopathic anymore due to an FDA warning, but don't want to lose the customers and income... and just make up some weird concoction with a fantasy name. Probably some natural stuff that suppresses hunger - but won't have the same effects as homeopathic or Rx hcg.

Whether or not you prefer to do Rx or homeopathic? Who knows. I decided to go for Rx, but am willing to consier hhcg for subsequent rounds. One advantage the Germans were quoting was that on hhcg, you don't need to take breaks in between since no immunity develops.

But for me, that is all just theoretical readings for months... my first shot is 2 days from now. So take my info with a grain of salt.

Just so you know, it's not okay to do hhcg without a break. Not unless you want to have saggy skin and need a skin lift. The skin tightens beautifully on the breaks. that's why there's a limit to how much you can lose in a round without a break. The immunity issue is the LEAST important reason to take a break. Your liver also needs a break.

Hey Grammy,

So I don't need to wait long before rounds? My doctor told me 6-8 weeks in between rounds! I just started but I wanted to lose a lot of weight before summer hits and 6-8 seems like a long time lol

As someone who has personally played guinea pig with various types of hhcg as well as doing rx injections, I can state without a doubt in my mind that homeopathic hcg can and does work (when it actually contains homeopathic strengths of hcg). I actually feel I had an easier time stabilizing on homeopathic rounds than I did on rx rounds.

wannabethin - of course your doctor's office is going to discount hhcg. They want you to buy rx hcg through them at outrageous prices.

kristen - I agree with Colleen. Breaks are as important, if not more important than the low calorie days. The hcg protocol is so low in protein that the body can't handle it for long periods of time. You lose better, stabilize better, see better shaping, when you take proper breaks between rounds.

I know it's easy to get gungho, chomping at the bit, to get the weight off. You didn't gain it overnight. It's best not to lose it overnight (so to speak). Even with breaks, the hcg protocol provides faster weight loss than any other method I've used in my 51 years (including gastric banding).

I really love your personal experiences in this.... I guess the reason so many are doing this without breaks is that there is a German hardcover book out, and that guy did it for a year straight, losing sick amounts of weight. He is the German "guru" I guess. I do have his eBook, just to refer to local products and best practice. But I have two simple motivations to take the necessary break - your advice (thanks!) and a wedding in P3.

I fully agree with the effects of hhcg and ease. I also found I liked them much better then rx. It's a personal choice though some see it differently. I also believe p3 is as important as the vlcd. Bottom line is you need a "real" product and to follow the protocol. The rewards are sure worth it!

sweetie pie make sure you read Pounds and Inches if you haven't. That's the REAL protocol. And it spells out the breaks. Those breaks are crucial to long term success.

Thanks - I have P&I on my iPad, reading it over and over again the whole time.... I figure I should do do at least two rounds on the real protocol before even trying out any of those rogue thingies...
