Default Women....How many pounds to lose to drop a clothing size?
I've lost close to 20 pounds but have only gone down one clothing size. I know it isn't a difference in the brands because I had two of the EXACT pair of jeans in two different sizes. I was wearing the pair one size larger than the ones I can get into now. How many pounds do each of you have to lose generally to go down a size?
I feel like I'm losing pounds but not inches. I ALWAYS hear of others who say the opposite.....they lose inches but not pounds.

I think 10-15 lbs = 1 size

I lost 23 lbs during P2 but only went down one size during that time (12 to a 10). In P3 I went from a baggy 10 to an 8 (fit my hips but was really baggy in my waist) - it wasn't until I was almost into P4, and 6lbs lighter, that I finally decided to see if I could fit into a 6, because my 8 were hanging off of me, but to my surprise found a 4 actually fit.

Hang in there, sometimes reshaping is slower for others.

I went down one size after I lost 20 pounds...I have gone down a size and a half after 40 pounds (I started at a snug 18, am now 12/14 depending on the brand). Shirts are different...the "girls" are keeping me in a L, but I started in an XXL.

I'm really surprised by how few sizes one goes down with weight loss. I would have thought for sure someone losing 40 pounds would go down about 3 sizes.....what a fantasy world I was living in as I slowly, blindly gained about 30 pounds......lol

I think it depends on the amount of inches lost not so much the amount of pounds. I lost 16lbs and went from a snug 9-10 to a size 6-7. And depending on the brand, I can fit into a 5 sometimes. My scrub pants are extremely baggy on me and so are my underwear.

I've lost close to 19 lbs on HCG but had lost 4 lbs before I started. I started at 250 and I'm at 227 now and have gone from a 2x in shirts to a XL. I'm in a 2x in pants and I'm still there but they are getting very loose. None of my friends have noticed the weight loss and maybe it's because it's all in my upper body or all over my body. Not sure. I know I notice it and that's all that matters and I prefer not being bugged all the time.

I also think that since I had more to lose, it didn't show as quickly. Pants went down almost three sizes (18 to 12), but my boobs are keeping shirts still in larges. I also still find it very hard to believe that I can fit into a 12, so I don't even bring them with me to the dressing room. I recently bought a pair of size 14 jeans that fit perfectly the second I put them on, but within an hour they are baggy...

Everyone is different...I am hoping that as I firm up and lose a bit of the saggy skin, I will be a solid 12....and by that time I will be starting round 3 and have to go shopping all over again!

I am not done with my round but I am about to enter into week #3 and my jeans are starting to "fall off" on me, which is why I posted I was looking for size 14 jeans since I know I will need them pretty soon. (I despise baggy clothes, I wanna show off my new smaller me...... lol). Ideally I should be in a 10 when I finally reach my goal weight. (crosses fingers)

I am down 36 lb. and finally went out to try on some new jeans. I went from a 14 to a 10. Totally shocked that they fit, I thought maybe one size down. Though I know different designers have different size standards so I will have to go more places, but I am happy to be where I am, for now.

I think this is going to be different for everyone and that seems to be true just from looking at the replies. Comparing yourself or your losses or your size to other women's is not helpful nor is it likely to keep you motivated. For example, I weigh more than I look like I do because I've been weight training for a long time now and have more muscle than most women. I can also carry more fat without it showing so much because of my hourglass shape and big boobs (not that that is good; I'm just saying I can get away with some extra fat as long as I'm wearing clothes).

I would definitely encourage everybody to take their measurements once a week as well as weighing themselves every day. The only thing that is keeping me on the VLCD is the losses I'm showing and the hard work I've put in the last two weeks. Don't expect anything in particular (like going down X number of sizes) and you won't be disappointed. Just focus on the progress you are making and congratulate yourself for changing your eating habits and adopting a healthier lifestyle.

It's like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to goal the faster it goes. When you are in the bigger sizes you have to lose a lot more to go down a size, later you will start dropping a size for 10 lbs. and if you are really small, 5 lbs can make a difference.

I think a lot depends on your height. I'm 5'1" and just 5 lbs. can be one size. Women who are 5'8" or more seem to need to lose 20 lbs. for a size. It also depends on whether you are working out, especially with weight training. If I'm doing heavy weight training, the scale could say I lost 5 lbs., but in actuality I might have lost 8 lbs in fat and gained 3 lbs. of muscle. That's going to make a much smaller me than losing 5 total lbs., with 4 being fat and one a loss of muscle. So it's all individual, due to lots of factors!

Not to be a thread hijacker or anything but if any of you have any size 14 jeans you no longer need, I could use them. Send me a msg.

AFM: The clothes that were too TIGHT before I started my HCG journey -- are pratically sliding of of my body. I don't have to stretch out my tee-shirts anymore like I used to. I am so thrilled about that! I am 5'6 and haven't dropped sizes yet but I am only into week #3 but I suspect I will have to have new clothes soon, which I am excited about!

Like Haunted said in her earlier aforementioned post, everyone is different and gauging losses via clothing sizes is not a surefire way to say "Oh well I am in a 16 I will drop 3 pants size after I lose 20-30lbs, etc" - God I wish that was true for me, but reality is, I know it is not LOL. I think that everyone is different and everyone's body is built differently so you might see more loses in one particular area of the body than the other and vice versa. I know at the end of all of our journeys we will be in a smaller size and have something to be PROUD of.

Keep on truckin! We all can do it!

That is so funny....and so true. It's FRUSTRATING though because others are dropping a few lbs and are skipping sizes like skipping rocks and meanwhile I'm still stuck in the same size pants almost 25 lbs lighter. Of course they are getting loose but I'd like to have them get lost.

Actually the fit of clothes can depend on the brand, the shape of the person and of course your size...I can wear a size 6 comfortably then go put on a size 8 and they be snug, generally I am a size 6 have gotten into a 4 but again it depends on the brand and my size if I am a general size 8 I am not going to get into a 4 to save my life but I can get into a 6 and 8 and depending on the brand is where it will depend on the fit...i have noticed I tend to lose a size for every 10-15 pngs i lose most of my shaping took place in phase 3 but you will lose inches in phase 2 remember for every so many pnds you lose, you will most likely platue (sp) and then lose inches...you say you do not see yourself having lost inches after 20 pnds but some where on your body you lost inches where i dont know it really is dependent on your shape as well and where most fat is stored... this is JUST my own personal experience from having lost a tremendous amount of weight prior to HCG losses the losses were different the shape i took was different and the sizes vs weight were different ...

It depends on height and where your fat is stored. I'm 6 feet have lost 35 pounds and have only gone down one pant size but my shirts and bra are fitting me better. My sister is 5' 1" and she has lost 36 pounds through another diet and has gone down 6 pant sizes.
In my family we are meatballs on stilts skinny legs and everything from the hips up gains weight and then skinny arms.

In January I was solidly into a size 16. Over the course of a few months I lost 7 pounds and the 16's were getting a little loose. I've lost 13.6 pounds since starting HCG for a total of 20. My 14's are now loose and yesterday I went shopping and bought three new pairs of pants (all of them different brands) in a size 12! YAY! They are just a tiny bit snug so I figure it'll be another 15 pounds until I'm in size 10. I'm loving this!
