Default Meat serving size question
JD's silly question of the week:

How exactly does one measure a serving size of meat?

Pre or post cooking?

What about bones?

The weight is on the label...raw. Then go to a site like http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts to find the nutrition components.

IF you get "Bed, Bath and Beyond: 20% off coupons", they NEVER expire. Use one to buy a scale. I bought the "Biggest Loser" one, the cheapest, and LOVE IT!

Weigh...only way to do it. I got into the routine easily.

Slap a little waxed paper on the scale. Turn it on. Weigh it.

Meat is zero carbs...why weigh it? Just curious minds!

Eh, I always like to estimate calories also, they DO count for something.

I was grilling myself a porterhouse last night, and I noticed that the bone seemed quite large on this one.

That got me to wondering about how much of a worse deal I got purchasing this one as opposed to the last one.

It then dawned on me that I've pretty much been counting the weight of the bone all year, and I felt pretty stupid.

Here's an idea. Weigh it raw. Cook it. Eat it. After you are finished with dinner, weigh the bone and any scraps (gristle, etc) you didn't eat, subtract, and that is how much you ate. Then check it out for the raw porterhouse steak values.
